Pastors and other SWIBA church leaders,
Southwestern Indiana Southern Baptist Association exists to assist our churches in the areas of cooperative missions, church planting, evangelism, and church health & equipping. And that's not just when we have a coordinator. One way you can help us do that is to serve on a ministry or organizational team. We want to involve as many people and churches as possible. Here is a list of our ministry teams along with their purposes:
BCM Team: to assist our churches in collegiate ministry (BCM) at any of our local colleges/universities.
Bible Study/Discipleship Team: to assist our churches with training/resources for developing workers in various areas including Sunday School/Bible Study, Discipling/Discipleship Training, Bible Drill, Preschool Ministry, and Children’s Ministry.
Church & Leader Development Team: to assist our churches in strengthening the health of both churches and their leadership and have oversight of the following: Deacons, Worship/ Music, Church Clerk, Safety/Security, Leadership training and revitalization.
Church Planting Team: to assist our churches by encouraging churches to plant, seeking out opportunities to plant, and helping to coordinate new plants, including requesting funds from the appropriate association/state convention/North American Mission Board resources. This team is encouraged to collaborate with the SCBI Regional Church Planting Catalyst.
Evangelism Team: to assist our churches through training in personal evangelism and oversight of the following: Recreation, Block Party Trailer/Baby Care Station, VBS, and other special evangelistic events.
Missions Team: to assist our churches through mission education and mission action through Woman’s Missionary Union, Disaster Relief, mission trips, local mission opportunities, and oversight of the Mission Trip Scholarship Fund.
Youth Team: to assist our churches in youth ministry.
Here are our organizational teams along with their purposes:
Finance Team: to prepare and monitor the Associational budgets in accordance with Bylaw 3, to handle the annual lay review of the Treasurer’s books, submitting their review report to the Leadership Team for approval, oversight of the Revolving Loan Fund and to ensure the Ministry Assistant and Bookkeeper are bonded. This team will also assist the associational churches in strengthening giving to the association and train churches in ways to increase giving within the churches. The Ministry Assistant and Bookkeeper shall serve as non-voting ex officio members of this team.
Property Team: to maintain and develop association buildings and other properties owned by the association. Volunteers should be enlisted first but if they are unable to handle a need among themselves in a timely manner, this team is authorized to contract with an outside company/worker through the Ministry Assistant (or designee), who shall serve as a non-voting ex officio member of this team. In the event of an emergency, such as a water main break, the Ministry Assistant or Coordinator should contract to have the emergency resolved if it cannot be immediately resolved by volunteers.
If you are willing to serve on any of the above teams, would like to suggest someone else, or have questions, please leave a message for me at the SWIBA office at 812-867-7451 and let me know the name of the SWIBA church where you (or your nominee) are a member. I will compile the list of possible team members and relay it to the Administrative Team for them to consider. Thanks in advance for helping us recruit our teams!
