This Easter Sunday at Trinity Anglican Church, we gave thanks to God for the life and legacy of Mrs. Shirley Mount.
Shirley was one of the founding members of our parish, and her influence is still found in this church. For many years, she served faithfully as Altar Guild Directress and as a member of the Vestry, bringing both devotion and excellence to everything she did.
Originally from London, England, Shirley was raised in the Anglican Christian tradition she loved so dearly. In fact, she received Altar Guild training from Archbishop of Canterbury Michael Ramsey, and she went on to share that knowledge by leading workshops and training others with the same care and reverence she embodied.
Beyond the church, Shirley led a remarkable professional life. With a degree in Chemistry, she played a key role in the development of the first metered-dose inhaler (MDI) for asthma treatment in the mid-1950s through Rexall Drugs, helping to improve the lives of countless people.
Shirley and her husband Ron were married for over fifty years, a testament to faithfulness and love. Together, they were deeply involved in the founding and growth of Trinity, and their legacy continues to shape who we are today. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and lifelong Anglican Christian.
Shirley entered into the nearer presence of our Lord on September 21, 2021, but her witness remains.
This Easter, we honored her memory by restoring a vintage Paschal candle holder and displaying it at our Easter service in her honor. It stands as a quiet but beautiful reminder of a life lived in faithful service to Christ and His Church.
“Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord… that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Revelation 14:13)
