Lord, have mercy đź’ś

We grieve with our neighbors today - for those who were killed and injured in the mass shooting yesterday evening near Loring Park in Minneapolis. May God’s love surround the friends and family of those who died, bring healing to those who were injured, and comfort the families and community who are grieving. We also lift up the people of Central Lutheran Church Downtown Minneapolis who offered hospitality and respite to many yesterday and have community members who are residents of Shoreline Plaza.

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's Social Message “Gun-Related Violence and Trauma” says, “Gun-related violence and trauma in the U.S. demand courageous and unremitting works of love seeking peace. This seeking must be undertaken collectively and collaboratively to bridge disabling conflicts and to secure peace for all those threatened and harmed by gun violence—victims, perpetrators, and neighbors at risk.”

As we as the Church grieve, we remember that we are called to Christlike service: to be peacemakers, tending to the grief and trauma of our neighbors, and working together to contribute to the common good.

“Let us then pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.” – Romans 14:19
