The Diocesan Vocations Office exists to help men discern whether or not the Lord is calling them to the Priesthood. We also provide resources for parishes, schools and parents to assist them in promoting vocations.

Meet our Diocese of Fall River seminarians! 👋

This is Sean Kilty, currently in the Propaedeutic Stage at Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Providence, RI.

Check out his vocation story:

"My name is Sean Kilty, and I grew up in Sandwich, Massachusetts. I have been a parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish for my entire life, and if those walls could talk, they would tell many stories of my journey of faith.

Growing up Catholic, I suppose I took the beauty and security of faith for granted and never truly understood the importance of submitting to God’s perfect and ever-loving will. I began discerning a call to the priesthood in high school after going on a pilgrimage to Spain to walk the Camino. But I was terrified of God’s call, so, like Jonah, I fled and ignored it.

I then went through some personal challenges and spent a couple of years away from the faith, looking to different hobbies to try and fulfill me. But they never did. After an especially difficult day, I found myself within the sacrament of confession, and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the help of some excellent priests, my life has been changed forever. I heard the Lord’s call again – directly and personally – and this time, I chose to say, “yes.” I finally trusted in His plan for me and decided to overcome my fear, following the next steps that God had planned for me.

I still enjoy a video game/board game or two and always love to dive into a good story, but I know that they are not where I find my fullest happiness. Whether it’s daily Mass or taking the time to visit our Lord within the perpetual adoration chapel, I have never seen more beauty anywhere than in the Blessed Sacrament, the Eucharist. Now, I am excited to begin my seminary journey, starting at the propaedeutic stage of formation at Our Lady of Providence Seminary. As I grow as a disciple of Christ, pray for me as I pray for all within the Diocese of Fall River and the entire Church."

Today is Priesthood Sunday! Thank your priests at mass today and always keep them in your prayers as they live out their sacred vocations in service to the Church! 🙏

"Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom.

Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience joy in their ministry.

Help them to become instruments of your divine grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest.

Amen."
