Dodge City First Baptist Church

Dodge City First Baptist Church Teaching the whole Bible as God's Holy Word so we may present everyone Mature IN Jesus The Christ Salvation
Jesus The Christ came to reconcile us with God.

Core Beliefs
--------------------------------------

The following are the core beliefs of Dodge City First Baptist Church based on God's Foundational Truths taught in The Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of These Biblical Doctrines.
---------------------------------------
God
There is One Eternally-Existing God Who has three distinct Holy Persons: God The Father,

God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. God is Perfect in Love, Power, Holiness, Goodness, Knowledge, Wisdom, Justice, and Mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Revelation
God has Revealed Himself to man-kind through His Only Begotten Son, Jesus The Christ, Who Is The Visible Image of The Invisible God, and through The Holy Scriptures, and through all of creation itself. The Bible
2 Timothy 2:16-17
All Scripture (The Bible, Old and New Testaments) is God-Breathed
and is useful for Teaching, Rebuking, Correcting and
Training in 'Righteousness', SO THAT the servant of God
may be Thoroughly Equipped for every Good Work.

2 Peter 1:19-21
We also have The Prophetic Message as something completely Reliable,
and you will do well to pay attention to It,
as to a light shining in a dark place,
until The Day dawns and The Morning Star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that
no Prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation on things. For Prophecy never had Its Origin in the human will,
but prophets, though human, Spoke From God as they were carried along by The Holy Spirit. Romans 15:4
Everything Written in the past were Written to Teach us,
so that through The Endurance Taught in The Scriptures
and The Encouragement They provide, we might have Hope. Hebrews 4:13
The Word of God is Living and Active, Sharper than any two-edged sword,
Piercing to the Division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow,
and Discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Proverbs 2:1-6
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to Wisdom
and applying your heart to Understanding—
indeed, if you call out for Insight
and cry aloud for Understanding,
and if you look for It as for silver
and search for It as for hidden treasure,
then you will Understand the fear of The Lord
and find The Knowledge of God. For The Lord gives Wisdom;
from His Mouth come Knowledge and Understanding. Mankind
The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created in God's Image and for His Glory. They were appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creation. The Fall
Genesis 2:16-17
16 The Lord God Commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die (be separated from God).”

Genesis 3:1-6
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals The Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.
5 “For God knows that when you eat from it
your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God,
knowing good and evil.”
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to be separated from God, and has fractured all of creation ever since that time. For as "in" Adam we all die because of sin, so all who are "in" Christ will be made alive! Jesus The Christ lived a life without sin and willingly died to pay the penalty for our transgressions: separation from God. But God raised Him from the dead and now, by Grace,
offers as a free gift Eternal Life in His Presence to:
* all who turn away from sin and are "Born Again"
* who receive God's Holy Spirit to dwell in them
* and who follow The Spirit's leading, becoming more
like Jesus every day
That is why salvation can only be found IN Jesus The Christ. The Church
The Church is meant to be the visible Body of Jesus The Christ to the world, to glorify God with our entire lives, to edify One Another, our "Brothers and Sisters IN Christ", and to proclaim His offer of Eternal Life with God through a Spirit-Led Faith that transforms us and leads to 'Holiness' and 'Christlikeness'. Resurrection
Jesus The Christ is returning one day, coming in the clouds at the last trumpet sound, and every eye will see! Then in a twinkling of an eye, and , the dead "IN Christ" will rise first, then those "IN Christ" who are alive at the time will rise. Those who are "IN" Him will have Eternal Life in God's Presence!

Over the years many churches, including ours, have planned an annual FRIEND DAY, or even participated in an annual BACK-TO-CHURCH SUNDAY, to which a great amount of time and money was given. And as wonderful as these special days have been, encouraging members to attend and extending the invitation to others to be a guest, they have been just that; special days promoted and planned once-a-year.

Here at Dodge City First Baptist Church we have started something new - the first Sunday of each month will be a FREIND DAY. So, what is it? Well, it's a day where the emphasis is to "come to the table."

It's a special Sunday each month where the Lord's Supper (communion) will be shared, and the Good News about Jesus, the only Savior, will be presented through music and the message and the other elements within the Sunday morning worship service. It's a day to come to the table, no matter who you are, and to be set free!

In addition, it's a day for the church to come to the table for a carry-in (potluck) meal, extending its fellowship beyond the morning service. It's a time at the physical table where relationships can be renewed or even created.

Of course, every weekend is a great opportunity for you to be in attendance and to invite others. However, maybe a once-a-month special day is something you need as a catalyst to help you come to the table, as well as invite someone to join you. And perhaps you missed out on the FRIEND DAY in July, or the someone you invited was unable to come. Well, the next one is this coming Sunday, August 2nd. Will you and someone you invite...

Come to the table; come join the sinners who have been redeemed.
Take your place beside the Savior. Sit down and be set free. Come to the table.

To the thief and to the doubter. To the hero and the coward.
To the prisoner and the soldier. To the young and to the older.
All who hunger, all who thirst. All the last and all the first.
All the paupers and the princess. All who fail, you've been forgiven.
All who dream and all who suffer. All who loved and lost another.
All the chained and all the free. All who follow, all who lead.
Anyone who's been let down. All the lost, you have been found.
All who've been labeled right or wrong. To everyone who hears this song.

Come to the table; come join the sinners who have been redeemed.
Take your place beside the Savior. Sit down and be set free. Come to the table.

I'm praying you will.

Living Life Upside Down. Here are the lyrics...
John has "a new way" of looking at life
He′s tired of his job, his kids and his wife
Says the secret to his success
Was in leaving and finding himself
Now he′s someone to somebody else
You say we've risen to "a new age of truth"
And you're calling it the "spiritual godly pursuit"
But I say, but I say
What if we′ve fallen to the bottom of the well
Thinking we′ve risen to the top of a mountain?
What if we're knocking at the gates of hell
Thinking that we′re heaven-bound?
And what if we spend our lives thinking of ourselves
When we should have been thinking of each other?
What if we reach up and touch the ground
To find we're living life, upside-down?
We′ve got a program for saving the earth
While unborn children are denied the right to birth
One child is blessed, another cursed
Have we made this world better or worse?
Now the life of a tree comes first?
You've said we′ve risen to "a new age of truth"
You're telling me what used to be wrong is now right
But I say, I say
What if we've fallen to the bottom of the well
Thinking we′ve risen to the top of a mountain?
What if we′re knocking at the gates of hell
Thinking that we're heaven-bound?
And what if we spend our lives thinking of ourselves
When we should have been thinking of each other?
What if we reach up and touch the ground
To find we′re living life, upside-down?
