Jesus had a group of disciples who were his friends, and Jesus protected his friends. One time, when a storm came up, Jesus calmed the storm, and proved that He was God. We need Jesus when the storms of life threaten to sink our boat, and we can use our lives to show others that Jesus is a friend we can trust.

May 24th - Jesus is a friend who loves. (Jonah 1-3) VBS Lesson # 2

God loves people and does not want to see them suffer punishment because of their sins. God sent Jonah to warn the people of Nineveh, and God showed forgiveness to them. God sent Jesus to us (John 3:16-21) so that we could also have forgiveness and find love in God’s family. Memorial Day weekend reminds us of those who have died and gone on to be with God because of Jesus’ love.

May 17th, 2026: We have begun a sermon series based on the lessons of the VBS coming up June 8th to 11th. We will study the lessons to help us understand what the children are learning in VBS. The First Lesson: “Jesus Is A Friend Who Is Real” (I Kings 18-19). When Elijah was tired and discouraged, he found that God was there for him. When we face challenges in life, we find that “Jesus is a friend who is real!” God comforts us so that we can comfort others with the comfort we ourselves have received.

April 19th: The Greatest Commission (Matthew 28)

Jesus completed his mission to the cross, but the mission extended beyond the cross and the resurrection to the very gates of hell. God’s intent is to be reconciled with all humanity, and Christ commissioned the church to be used for that ministry. We who are God’s people are empowered by His Holy Spirit to be God’s Ambassadors, making our appeal to all people: “Be Reconciled to God!” We first received the Gospel, and then we share it.

April 12th: Greatest Completion (Luke 24)

Jesus promised he would rise to life again after his crucifixion. His disciples were so devastated by the death they could not comprehend what was happening. Then Jesus completed His promise by appearing to them, and opening their minds to understand God’s plan for complete reconciliation with mankind. The Greatest Life ever lived now completes the promises made, and those promises are still made, and kept, in our lives today. Jesus will still open and cleanse our minds so we can be used for His glory.
