Pastor Ryan preached on perseverance and pushing through hardship yesterday. He shared an important word that opposition is not always a sign to cease fighting and pushing.

This message comes at a critical time for us as a church. We've had to relocate to the gymnasium of the church building that we meet at. In many ways, this is a challenge; We don't have our typical lighting... The sound isn't great... And we've been forced by the circumstances to set up our children's classes in hallways because of the lack of space...

But God is not done with Alive, and we are not taking this as some kind of divine horoscope from Him! We know God has commissioned us, and so we're going to fight and push through the difficulty.

Similarly, God is not done with you. And if you've encountered difficulty in your life, don't be so quick to assume that it's a sign from God. Jesus promises us that we will face difficulty in this life. Sometimes, it's once we push through that difficulty that we see God working in the midst of the circumstances!

"I sat two rows from the back, and someone still saw me."

Barb walked into church feeling invisible. Then a woman named Rhonda noticed her, remembered her name, and said the words that changed everything: "Come sit with us."

She almost couldn't believe it. "I can't tell you what that did for me. Just to be not invisible."

That's what we want Alive to be. Not a crowd you disappear into, but a family that notices you, prays together before service, and lingers after to actually know each other.

Ever wondered if God actually understands what you're going through?

On this week's episode we open Hebrews 2 and sit with a hard, beautiful truth: Jesus didn't watch our suffering from a safe distance. He took on flesh. He was betrayed. He was denied by a close friend. He felt real pain on the cross.

So when you bring Him your grief, you aren't talking to a God who only knows about suffering. You're talking to a God who has lived it.

This past Sunday, Pastor Nathan demonstrated the massive size difference of the debts in the parable of the unforgiving servant. This huge sheet represented our sin, and a small little hole punch represented our fellow believer’s sin. The call was to recognize the gravity of the forgiveness we’ve been given, and for that to make us radical in our reconciliation.

She wasn't sure about Jesus yet, but she kept showing up with a notebook full of questions — four or five every week.

She'd stick around after service, find someone willing to talk, and just ask.

That's what it looks like when someone is searching — and a community makes room for it.
