You heard about a “God Moment” being when the sun poked through a hole in the cloud after a storm at the last Youth and Young Adult meeting. They also discussed how everything can be a song and some amazing photos taken during the lunar eclipse!

Do you have to follow rules like the children do in school? Pastor Emily asked the kids about things like running in the hallway, listening in the teacher and eating food in the cafeteria as opposed to throwing it! Oh yeah, and then there’s the dress code! So, do you also have rules in church? Do you pay attention during the sermon? Paul wrote about rules like hating what is evil and loving one another — even people who are mean to you. You should always be kind, whether it’s at church, the grocery store or school. Dear God, thank you for the wise words of Paul and help us to remember the rules of loving one another. Amen!

You can watch our “Fellowship of Joy” from today’s service right here!

The prophet Jeremiah speaks of the incurable wound of his suffering yet finds in God’s words the delight of his heart. When Peter doesn’t grasp Jesus’ words about suffering, Jesus tells the disciples they will find their lives in losing them. Such sacrificial love is described by Paul when he urges us to associate with the lowly and not repay evil with evil. In worship we gather as a community that we might offer ourselves for the sake of our suffering world.

You should thank Drew for this very clever Children's Sunday School craft! The kids cut out bands of a rainbow from construction paper. Then, they passed them along until everyone had a rainbow band from each other. From there, the children made a rainbow with all of the different bands! It all goes back to the Gospel Lesson from Romans 12: 1-8 and Pastor Emily’s sermon, “Be An Individual, Together.”

We are horrified and saddened by the news coming from Nepal about the flash flooding today. The ELCA is in contact with our companions and partners in Nepal as the impact continues to unfold. We hold our companions and partners, and the people of Nepal and Tibet in prayer in this incredibly challenging time.

Let us pray:

Loving God, in the communion of Christ, we are joined with the trials and sufferings of all. Be with the people of Nepal and Tibet affected by devastating flash flooding. Protect those who remain in danger, comfort those who grieve, strengthen first responders and aid workers, and guide leaders as they coordinate relief efforts.

Surround our companions and partners with your presence and peace. In the midst of uncertainty and loss, sustain hope, courage, and resilience through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
