🎢 Sunday Funday with our Youtherans 🎢

Our St. James Youtherans took their Sunday fun beyond the classroom with a last-minute trip to Carowinds after worship this past Sunday! We love seeing our youth make memories and spend time together! 🎡🙌

Got a middle or high school student? Our Youtherans Sunday School class meets at 9:30 AM each Sunday before worship at 10 AM, and new faces are always welcome! ❤️

Our sanctuary was filled with beautiful quilts this morning, each one stitched with care and destined to bring warmth and comfort to someone in need. ❤️

What a wonderful Blessing of the Quilts! A silent auction also helped raise funds to ship these gifts of love through Lutheran World Relief.

Heartfelt thanks to our quilters and volunteers who give so generously of their time and talents. Through their hands, God’s love reaches far beyond the walls of St. James.

🧵 The Quilting Ministry meets Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

99 Years Ago Today ⛪

On October 9, 1927, St. James gathered to lay the cornerstone of the church we still call home today.

The cornerstone bears three dates: 1843, when St. James was organized; 1882, marking our second church; and 1927, when the cornerstone of our present church was laid.

At the service, the congregation heard these words:

“Behold, I lay in Zion a Chief cornerstone, elect, precious…” — 1 Peter 2:6

99 years later, the cornerstone still stands—and Christ remains our Chief Cornerstone.

🌸 St. James at the Cabarrus/Stanly WELCA Gathering

Jean Beasley and Lois Marlow represented St. James at the annual Cabarrus/Stanly Fall WELCA Gathering on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church in Concord.

The conference brings together women from 16 area Lutheran churches for fellowship and ministry. 💙

The gathering also supported the Lutheran Services Carolinas Foster Children’s Program, Change for Change for disaster relief, and the Diaper Bank of North Carolina through Cabarrus Health Alliance.

WELCA is the official women’s ministry organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. St. James was pleased to host the Cabarrus/Stanly WELCA Conference in 2024.
