Our Holy Cross Kids, Students, and Adults experience and learn about God’s Word and great love on Sundays from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Nursery an

d Preschool meet downstairs, while K – Grade 5 meet upstairs. Adults have classes in Hiller Hall, Fireside, and the School Open Area. During the summer Students 6th grade – High School enjoy meeting together on Wednesdays 6 – 8 p.m. In the Fall, we have all age Bible Studies on Wednesday nights. Genesis 19–22 takes us through the rescue of Lot from S***m and Gomorrah, Abraham’s continued journey of faith, and the birth of Isaac. Throughout these accounts, we are reminded to trust God’s Word even when others do not. Isaac, the child of promise, also points us forward to Jesus Christ and His sacrificial work for our salvation.

As God’s promises unfold, we are reminded that God’s work does not depend on our efforts, decisions, or accomplishments. The Gospel is fundamentally different from a religion of works: God calls, promises, and saves. In Christ Jesus, our salvation is not something we achieve—it is what God has done for us.

Chronological Bible Study – Day 5 | Genesis 12:1–15:21

Genesis 12–15 begins the story of Abram, whom God would eventually rename Abraham. What stands out is that God is the one who initiates the call. Abram was not chosen because of his own greatness or because of the things he had done. God called him and promised to bless him and make him great. We see that same grace in Christ: God calls us through His Word and Spirit, not because of our works or decisions, but because of what He has done for us in Jesus. Our salvation is God’s work from beginning to end.

Genesis 10–11 traces the spreading of the nations and the growth of humanity after the Flood. At Babel, God confuses the languages and scatters the people across the earth. Yet this event points forward to Pentecost, where the Gospel crosses language and national boundaries and brings people together in Christ. Through Jesus, we become a new people—united not by a common earthly language or nation, but by faith and righteousness in Christ.

Living Sacrifices? The Christian Paradox That Changes Everything

What does Paul mean when he calls Christians "living sacrifices"?

Romans 12 presents a phrase that seems impossible, yet it points directly to Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, Christ became the true Living Sacrifice, fulfilling what humanity never could. United to Him through faith, Christians are transformed, renewed in mind, and empowered to overcome evil with good, love their neighbors, and live lives shaped by grace rather than bargaining with God.
