New Harvest Church was born in 1993 when a group of believers chose to begin a new work where they could be free to worship as they were led. Although they had no name at the time, they met first February 28, 1993 in the home of Donnell & Carolyn Linton. David to preach in their home that day as she was recup
erating from surgery and was unable to get out at that point. Shortly afterward, the name was chosen because they had a desire to see a new generation come to Christ and be free. In the early days the church met for Wednesday prayer meetings in the home of Jerry & Suzie Thead in the Bailey community. This arrangement went on for a couple of months. Then, in May of 1993 an agreement was reached to rent the old Antioch Methodist Church building in the Martin community for $1 per year. What a blessing it was to find a suitable, available building! However, the building was limited in educational space having only two small rooms beside the sanctuary. In the spring of 1995 an exciting new development came to answer that need. A double-wide modular home was donated to the church by David & Barbara Singleton and moved to the property. After a great deal of work, needed classroom space was now available, and the Bible-teaching ministry of the church swung into high gear. God was so gracious to us during those years in Martin, and we saw many souls saved & lives changed. The days we spent in that building will never be forgotten, and we are so thankful to the people of Antioch Methodist Church. The property at 9088 Church Road in Collinsville was purchased from the Livingston Family in December of 2000. That is our current location. Progress began in July of 2002 when the old house on the property was sold and moved making room for the current building. The vision was to begin the building process by first constructing the future fellowship hall and worshiping there until a worship center followed. We are in that process now, but God's blessings have necessitated the purchase of some portable buildings to temporarily meet the growth needs in order to have enough classrooms. A Long-Range Planning Committee has been chosen to study how best to use the available acreage and meet current & future needs.
