Historic Cody Mural and Museum

Historic Cody Mural and Museum Free admission. Experience the Faith and Perseverance of Big Horn Basin's First Settlers. The Magnificent Cody Mural, painted by western realism Artist Edward T.

Grigware (1889-1960), illustrates the early history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in vivid paintings that cover a 36-foot wide rotunda. Hallmarked as his "masterpiece," the mural took nearly two years to complete including a full year of historical research by the artist. In addition to the mural, the museum will let you experience the day-to-day struggles of Mormon pioneers.

They came in 1900 to build a 30-mile irrigation canal and to help establish and settle the Big Horn Basin of Wyoming. The exhibit displays artwork and sculptures by local artists along with photos and artifacts of the original settlers in the area.

Meet Brent & Tina Vernon, returning missionaries from Fort Collins, Colorado! ❤️

This is their second season serving at the Cody Mural Museum, and they say the reason they came back is simple: they felt inspired to return.

For Brent, one of the most meaningful parts of serving is helping visitors learn more about the history and faith represented throughout the museum. Tina's favorite part? The people. She loves welcoming guests, sharing the stories behind the murals and exhibits, and making each visit a memorable one.

If you've toured the museum this season, you may have had the chance to meet Brent and Tina. Their kindness, knowledge, and love for Cody help make every visit a little more special.

Elder and Sister Danforth began serving at the Historic Cody Mural and Museum in May. While they now call Florida home, Wyoming holds a special place in their hearts after living here for nearly 20 years.

When asked about their favorite exhibits, both mentioned the museum's first-edition Book of Mormon. For Elder Danforth, holding the historic book while helping move it was a meaningful experience. Seeing the signatures inside made him reflect on the many lives it has touched through the years.

Sister Danforth also loves the artwork depicting the miracle of the crickets and gulls, a story she has cherished since childhood. She especially enjoys the beautiful colors used throughout the mural.

Whether they're welcoming visitors, sharing local history, or reconnecting with old friends, Elder and Sister Danforth are grateful to be serving in a place that feels like home.
