Wydown United Church We are Wydown United Church, formerly First Congregational Church of St. Louis, an Open and Affirming congregation of the United Church of Christ.

We strive, by combining inclusiveness with efforts to make a difference, to become a magnet to faith seekers, young and old alike, wherever they may be on life’s journey. We’re an open-minded group of people exploring our faith together while working to make a difference in our community and beyond. You are welcome here with spirited worship, hands-on service, thoughtful discussion, and sincere fellowship β€” no matter who or where you are on life’s journey!

On Sunday we welcomed ten new members into our congregation as they have completed their confirmation journey. Together they have explored, questioned, learned, and grown, and they have each claimed their faith freely, on their own terms. Because of these thoughtful, bright, creative, and compassionate young people, we are hopeful for the future!

🎢 You're invited! Join us for the PEMCO Fundraiser on Friday, May 8th at 7:00pm for an evening of great food, great company, and live ambient music performed by our very own orchestra musicians! There is no cost to attend, but you will have an opportunity to donate to the orchestra.

This is a potluck-style event. Here's what to bring based on the first letter of your last name:
A–I: Main dish | J–P: Side dish or salad | Q–Z: Dessert
(Beverages are always welcome too!)

To help us plan, please RSVP using the link in our bio and let us know what you're bringing!

Can't make it in person? You can still support the Paul Evensen Memorial Chamber Orchestra by making a donation β€” link in bio for online giving, or by cash/check made out to Wydown United Church with "Orchestra" in the memo.

We hope to see you there! 🎻✨

🌍✨ What a beautiful Earth Day celebration!

On Sunday we gathered for an Earth Day picnic in Forest Park, where we were treated to something truly special. Wydown United Church member and artist Adrienne Outlaw was the featured artist at the St. Louis Earth Day Festival with her stunning installation, Double Bloom β€” immersive geodesic domes constructed entirely from community-collected post-consumer plastic bottle caps.

When we stepped inside the dome we became part of the art as the domes cast gorgeous geometric shadows all around us!

We are inspired by Adrienne's extraordinary creativity, her commitment to sustainability, and her gift for bringing communities together through art. Double Bloom is a reminder that beauty can be born from what we might otherwise throw away.

In a time marked by division and uncertainty, what does it mean to be blessed?

On February 8, we reflected on The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1–12) as more than comforting words β€” as a radical moral framework for our time.

During Black History Month, this message calls us to humility, courage, justice, and active peacemaking. Not louder voices. Deeper faithfulness.

If you missed the sermon or would like to revisit it, we invite you to read the blog and watch the sermon.

On February 8, we reflected on The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1–12) β€” not as gentle sayings, but as a radical moral framework for our time. Now, as we move further into February and continue observing Black History Month, that message feels even more urgent. In a season marked by division, fear, and ...
