Holy Communion: Sundays @ 10 a.m. Bethel Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We are located in University City, MO on the corner of Big Bend and Forsyth Blvd. We celebrate Holy Communion Sundays at 10 a.m. The ELCA is in formal fellowship with the Ep

iscopal Church, the Reformed Church in America, the Presbyterian Church (USA), the United Church of Christ, and the Moravian Church in America. Believing in the real presence of Christ in the holy meal, this church practices Eucharistic hospitality -- we invite all to share in the Holy Eucharist. We are a Reconciling in Christ (a welcoming ministry to persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities) and Stephen Ministry (a lay ministry of caring and listening) congregation. We are in covenant with Lutheran Campus Ministry.

This weekend is the first of five Discernment Events across the Central States Synod, ELCA. They are designed for anyone who is contemplating or feeling the nudge toward ministry on any level, including lay leadership. This little retreat will provide attendees with space to pray, study, have deep conversation, and listen to God's voice in their lives. The first one will be next door at LuMin St. Louis, but there are also other locations and times to choose from.

🌈HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!🌈
As people of faith and Lutheran Christians, we affirm that our LGBTQIA+ siblings are created in the image of God. We are a Reconciling in Christ Congregation: we welcome people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. We are committed to work for full inclusion and equity and we renounce any power, privilege, or prejudice that undermines community and disrupts joy, gladness, relationships, and abundant life for all people.

Many thanks to Bethel’s Green Team for planting and caring for our pollinator garden — check out all the June blooms! We are supporting our local pollinators with less watering and chemical treatments than a conventional lawn. These native plantings absorb more rainfall thanks to deeper roots all while providing natural beauty and color.

Congregational Meeting Prep - Budget & Climate Justice Resolution Review
Sunday, May 31, 8:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall
We will take time to review and answer questions about two important items that the congregation will vote on at our semi-annual congregational meeting on June 7. Our operating budget for fiscal year 2026–2027 and a widely-circulated resolution on the "World Council of Churches Ecumenical Decade of Climate Justice Action." Join us to be informed. Copies of both will be provided at the meeting.

Sunday Funday
Youth in grades 7–12 are invited to join with other local ELCA youth for "Sunday Funday" from 5–7 p.m. this Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Bethel. There will be a pizza dinner plus activities for fun, faith, and fellowship. Optional: you are welcome to bring a snack to share if you'd like. We can't wait to see you there!

Mission Focus for May: Diapers
We invite all to help us end diaper need and period poverty by collecting diapers and period supplies for the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank and St. Louis Alliance for Period Supplies. We’ll collect for 5 weeks through Sunday, June 14. Look for the designated collection area in the narthex. Greatest needs are for size 4–6 diapers, training pants, and tampons.
