Please join us on Saturday, May 9th at 2 PM for our annual Women’s Mother’s Day Tea under the theme “A Mother’s Love”. Together we will celebrate the gift of mothers/mother figures in our lives, in the wild and in our mothering God.
Sign up sheets are in the narthex, or you can call the church office or Pat Johnson to let us know how many will be in your party and what you are able to bring to share (tea sandwiches, salads or cookies).

This Sunday, we will continue to listen to John’s gospel. This week, our Scripture lesson will be John 3:1-21, the story of Jesus’ meeting with the prominent Pharisee Nicodemus, under the cloak of darkness. Nicodemus, apparently intrigued by what he had heard about Jesus, tells Jesus that he trusts that God had sent and empowered him. Strangely, Jesus responds by telling Nicodemus that only those who are “born from above” can see God’s kingdom. A conversation about the meaning of being born from above follows.

During Pastor Gabi’s last Sunday at Advent, we will dig deeper into what the lives of those born from above might look like. Please join us for worship at 9:30AM in our sanctuary and stay after worship for a farewell luncheon in the Fellowship Hall.

Our Gospel lesson this week comes right on the heels of last Sunday's passage from John's gospel. In John 2:23-25, John combines two well-known words of Jesus. First, Jesus drives out vendors and money changers from the courts of the Jerusalem temple. He then proceeds to talk about his ability to rebuild the temple in three days, even though it took Herod and others forty-six years to build it to begin with. What we know, but Jesus' audience didn't, is that Jesus talked about his body rather than a magnificent stone edifice.
