At Sycamore Presbyterian Church, we believe music is far more than just a part of worship — it is prayer, praise, storytelling, and a way for us to encounter God together. From the quietest hymn to the most joyful anthem, music has a unique way of opening our hearts and drawing us closer to Christ and to one another.

We are especially blessed by the incredible gifts of our violinist, David Goist. His talent, dedication, and spirit bring such beauty and depth to our services each week. Whether gently underscoring a moment of prayer or lifting the congregation in celebration, his music helps create meaningful moments of worship that stay with us long after Sunday ends.

This Memorial Day, we remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. The old song “The Vacant Chair” paints a moving picture of an empty seat at the table — a reminder of those who never came home, yet are never forgotten.

Today, we honor their memory with gratitude and prayer, trusting in the hope and peace found in Christ.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13

As you listen to The Vacant Chair, may we all pause to remember, give thanks, and pray for the families who still feel the absence of that vacant chair.
