During your time of mourning, we are here to serve your burial needs with dignity and respect. We offer interment and above-ground mausoleum spaces, as well as niches for cremains. The cemetery was first established in 1885 and is among the oldest in the Chicagoland area. We are a private, family-owned cemetery - one of very few in the country. Unlike most cemeteries, you won't find an investor po

rtal on our website because we are committed to our patrons at Troost Cemeteries instead of returns to shareholders. Our staff members are educators, not salespeople; during your family's most difficult time, you’ll receive a clear articulation of our available services, not a sales pitch. We’ll help you select the best options for you and your loved ones. At Mount Hope, you trust us with your family, so we treat you like family. Our historic grounds were originally laid out in a park-like setting, with rolling hills and verdant meadows. The cemetery features beautiful old oaks and evergreens, which we strive to maintain to their fullest health and beauty. Visitors are always welcome and encouraged to visit the park. The park is open daily from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.

🕊️ Today is National Grief Awareness Day. We recognize those who are grieving the loss of someone they love and remind them that there is no "right" way or set amount of time to grieve.

At Troost Cemeteries, we know that remembrance can be an important part of the journey. A visit to a gravesite, sharing a favorite story, looking through old photographs, or simply saying their name can help keep a loved one's memory close.

Cemetery Trivia: Have you ever noticed a monument that looks like a tree trunk with chopped-off branches?

👇 Here’s the answer!

These unique monuments mark the graves of members of Modern Woodmen of America and Woodmen of the World, fraternal benefit societies founded in 1890 that provided financial security and life insurance to their members.

One of their most distinctive benefits was a tree-stump monument, provided to members at no additional cost. Each monument was designed to resemble a natural tree trunk and hand-carved from limestone or sandstone by a local stone carver.

Did you know? Another Troost Cemeteries location, Arlington Cemetery Elmhurst, is home to a large Modern Woodmen of America group monument, erected in 1913.
