* ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY PARADE and CEREMONY *
WHAT: Rosehill Cemetery MEMORIAL DAY PARADE AND CEREMONY, 10 AM Monday, May 26, 2025, Rosehill will host a Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony in conjunction with Tattler Post #973, Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, Chicago Light Artillery, Daughters of the American Revolution and local dignitaries/elected officials. The ceremony will celebrate past and present veterans. βAvenue of Flagsβ to display 165+ USA flags of deceased veterans. Costumed Union soldiers of the Chicago Light Artillery to discharge a Canon Salute. βClara Bartonβ, Red Cross founder reenactor to be present. Complimentary cookout to follow. (Past attendees approximately 1500.)
Parade: Tattler Post #973 ,Lane Tech High School ROTC, Local Cub Scouts, Daughters of the American Revolution, local dignitaries/elected officials.
Founded in 1859, at least one veteran from every war in U.S. history is laid to rest at Rosehill Cemetery, including the Revolutionary War, 20 Civil War generals and more than 350 Union soldiers. Rosehill Cemetery is as diverse as the city of Chicago and at 335 acres, is its largest. It represents local and national history.
