I’m really excited about what we have planned!
We’ll kick things off together with an opening session introducing our theme: “Shining a Light on Who Jesus Really Is.” I’ll spend a few minutes teaching all of the kids before we break into age groups. Right now we have 20 kids registered, and we’re believing God to send even more!
As usual… 😂 I’ll probably turn the Scripture into a little rap for the kids to help them remember it!
Each child will receive a name tag, and we’ll make sure everyone’s name is written on it so we can call them by name instead of asking, “What’s your name?” all day. 😂
Before we separate into groups, we’ll play a couple of fun icebreakers together:
📌 Jesus Says (our Bible version of Simon Says)
📌 Musical Chairs
The goal is to get everyone smiling, laughing, comfortable, and excited.
Our younger children will:
🎨 Color a picture that ties into our theme.
🎤 Share what their picture means to them.
✏️ Draw what they want to be when they grow up and explain how they can use that career to shine a light on who Jesus is through their words and actions.
🔦 Create a flashlight craft that reinforces our theme of being a light for Christ.
We’ll break for lunch, and if anyone hasn’t finished their craft, they’ll have time to complete it before moving into more games.
Games for the little ones include:
📌 Flashlight Game (similar to Hot Potato)
📌 Musical Chairs
📌 Balloon Pass
📌 Pop the Balloon
📌 Connect 4
📌 Glow Relay Race (passing a flashlight or glow stick to symbolize being the light)
📌 Compliment Circle, where every child encourages someone else and reminds them of their value.
The older students who are interested in podcasting, public speaking, content creation, influencing, or spoken word will join me.
My goal isn’t just to entertain them—it’s to help them discover that God can use their voice to impact the world.
They’ll:
• Write their dreams, goals, and future aspirations on an index card.
• Participate in interactive games that build communication skills, confidence, teamwork, leadership, and teach them how to ask meaningful questions.
• Learn how to use their gifts, personality, and platform to shine a light on who Jesus really is while remaining true to God and true to themselves.
At the end of our session, every student will record a short podcast or encouraging message. I’ll edit it on the spot and AirDrop it directly to their phones so they leave with something they created that they can proudly share with their family and friends.
More than anything, I want every child to leave saying:
“I had fun. I made new friends. I learned about Jesus. And I discovered that my voice matters.”
That’s the win.
