This past Sunday, UVA Law students spent their Day of Service helping the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Charlottesville prepare for our biggest fundraiser of the year — and they were AWESOME! They did the majority of the setup, moving and organizing all the donated items into our Social Hall. This fundraiser supports our congregation and our social justice projects.

Come sort through bins of peaches with us on Wednesday the 19th in Covesville! We will be starting at 9am. The exact location and additional details will be sent to your email the day before the gleaning.

To prepare, please bring containers to pack, water, gloves, and weather appropriate clothing. You will be outside.

To help ensure a safe and well-organized event, Society of St. Andrew (SOSA) liability waivers are required for all participants. Adults should complete the standard waiver, while volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the minor waiver before arriving. UUCville First Friday Food Pantry Day!

What a busy and wonderful morning! Thanks to our amazing crew...and to the community members who have become part of our pantry family...for hauling tables, bringing stored food out from Summit House, and unloading the Food Bank truck. Today we distributed over 1,300 pounds of food and served 39 individuals and their families — more than 130 people!

A special thank-you to the Society of St. Andrew and everyone who helped pack fresh peaches in Covesville. The peaches were our only fresh produce this month and were greatly appreciated! And what a treat to have our Book Baskets partners joining us again, giving away free books for kids and cookbooks for adults! So grateful for our congregation members who show up each month to make First Friday Food Pantry Day possible!

New to UUCville? Join us August 9 after the service for a Newcomer Circle. These are held monthly and feature relaxed conversation about Unitarian Universalism and the UU Congregation of Charlottesville. They begin at 12:15 on a Sunday and last for 30 minutes.

No advanced registration or sign-up is required. Simply get a refreshment from the Social Hall after the Sunday service and join us! We usually meet in the parlor or the sanctuary. The location will be announced during the service.
