Staying Connected in a Blended Family

At The Chapel at Rippon Village, our Marriage Ministry is here to encourage couples in every season of marriage including those building blended families. If you're finding it difficult to stay connected or simply want to strengthen your relationship, we'd be honored to walk alongside you. Reach out to learn more about our free marriage coaching sessions, where you'll find biblical encouragement, practical tools, and a safe place to grow together in Christ.

Blending a family is a beautiful journey, but it also comes with unique challenges. Between co-parenting, busy schedules, work, children's activities, and learning new family dynamics, it's easy for your marriage to take a back seat.

Yet strong blended families are built on strong marriages. When a husband and wife intentionally invest in their relationship, they create a foundation of love, security, and stability that benefits everyone in the home.

God's design has always been for husband and wife to walk through life together.

"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." — Genesis 2:24

Here are a few simple ways to stay connected:

Choose each other daily. A thoughtful text, kind word, or small act of love reminds your spouse they're your greatest teammate.

Protect time together. Even with complicated schedules, make space for a date night, an evening walk, or an uninterrupted conversation.

Communicate with grace. Blended families often face unique situations and emotions. Listen well, speak kindly, and approach challenges as one team.

Pray together. Invite God into your decisions, struggles, and celebrations. He is the One who strengthens both your marriage and your family.

Extend grace generously. Blending a family takes time. There will be growing pains, but with patience, forgiveness, and God's guidance, your family can flourish.

Building a blended family doesn't happen overnight. It happens one conversation, one prayer, one shared experience, and one act of love at a time.

There are certain places in this chapel that just have a way of drawing you in, and for me, it's this beautiful stained glass window.

It was lovingly donated by the family of Winifred La Rue in her memory, and over the past year, I've found myself sitting near it more times than I can count. As the sunlight shines through the glass, there is something so comforting about sitting here and reflecting. In a world where so much love can feel conditional, I'm thankful for the reminder this window gives me. God's love never changes. It doesn't depend on what we've done or how many times we've fallen short. He simply loves us with a love that is steadfast, faithful, and unconditional. And that's a beautiful place to rest. His love is unconditional, His grace is abundant, and His arms are always open to anyone who comes to Him.

I often think about the La Rue family and what a meaningful gift they gave. Because of their generosity, Winifred's memory continues to be part of this chapel's story. Every worship service, every wedding, every prayer, and every person who pauses to admire this window is touched by the legacy they chose to leave behind. To the La Rue family, thank you. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful gift.

Happy Independence Day! ❤️🤍💙

Today we celebrate 250 years of American independence and honor those who have courageously served and sacrificed to protect them. We are incredibly grateful for the blessing of living in a country where we have the freedom to gather, worship, and share our faith.

As we celebrate America's independence, we're reminded of an even greater freedom...the freedom we have through Jesus Christ. Because of His sacrifice, we are no longer bound by sin, fear, or shame, but are invited to live in the hope, peace, and abundant life found only in Him.

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." John 8:36 ✝️

Free Wedding Wednesdays

We believe marriage is a sacred covenant between a husband and wife, established by God. It is one of His greatest gifts, and we believe every couple who desires to honor Him through marriage should have the opportunity to do so. Cost should never be the reason to wait.

As part of our marriage ministry, we are honored to offer complimentary Christian wedding ceremonies on select Wednesday evenings, providing couples with a beautiful, meaningful way to begin their lives together before the Lord.

Each complimentary wedding includes:

🤍 A wedding coordinator
⛪ A beautifully decorated historic chapel
💐 A faux bridal bouquet and boutonniere
👰 Private Bridal Room and Groom's Room to prepare before your ceremony
📸 Time for wedding photos throughout the chapel and grounds
✝️ A Christ-centered wedding ceremony officiated by an ordained minister

As an extension of this ministry, couples are also invited to visit our complimentary Bridal Attire Closet, where they can choose from a growing collection of donated:

Wedding trends are changing.

Guest lists are becoming smaller. Couples are choosing more intimate celebrations. Costs continue to rise, and social media fills our feeds with endless ideas, expectations, and picture-perfect moments that can make wedding planning feel overwhelming.

At The Chapel at Rippon Village, we encourage couples to pause and remember why they’re planning a wedding in the first place.

Your wedding day isn’t about recreating someone else’s Pinterest board or going viral on social media. It’s about beginning a lifelong commitment with the person you love.

Use social media for inspiration but don’t let it define your wedding. Instead, create a celebration that reflects your story, your values, your faith, and your personalities. The most meaningful weddings are the ones that feel authentic to the couple standing at the altar.

Tonight, these candlelit aisles will welcome another couple as they begin the incredible journey of marriage, and we are honored to be a small part of their story.

There is something truly special about these quiet moments before our chapel doors open… the soft glow of candlelight, the peaceful stillness, and the anticipation of two lives about to become one.

Before the music begins, before the guests arrive, and before the vows are spoken, we take a moment to soak in the beauty and peace that fills this sacred place. It’s a gentle reminder that some of God’s sweetest work happens in the quiet.
