Gracious God,
On this September 11, we remember the lives lost twenty-five years ago, those who were injured, those who rushed toward danger to help, and all whose lives were forever changed by the events of that day.
We pray for families and communities who continue to carry grief. We remember first responders, caregivers, chaplains, and all who offered courage and compassion amid fear and devastation.
As we remember, keep us from allowing fear, hatred, or division to have the final word. Where prejudice and suspicion divide us, lead us toward understanding. Where violence wounds your children, make us instruments of peace.
Across the Sierra Pacific Synod and throughout your whole church, give us courage to love our neighbors, to seek reconciliation, and follow the way of Jesus.
Amen.
