Charlotte Mason once wrote,

“As a stream can rise no higher than its source, so it is probable that no educational effort can rise above the whole scheme of thought which gives it birth…”

Every homeschooling parent spends hours researching curriculum, touring co-ops, and finding enrichment, but before they do any of that, they must ask themselves a complex question:

What is worth learning?

The answer to that question shapes everything that follows, because education is never just a collection of subjects.

While speaking with the woman at the well, Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:13–15)

At The Hope Academy, we strive to offer each learner an enduring education that embodies life-giving ideas which sustain children into adulthood.

Truth. Beauty. Goodness.

Because the stream can only rise as high as its source, and we want to give our students a source with enough depth to carry them far.

This September, we celebrated the four-year anniversary of The Hope Academy being open and four years of being on our beautiful campus!

Four years ago, while searching for a name for our new nonprofit education center, our director’s daughter offered a simple but beautiful thought. She wanted this community to be a beacon of hope for every student and family who walked through its doors.

Those words stayed with us, and from that little vision came our name: The Hope Academy.

When it came time to create our logo, we knew the perfect place to begin: the historic home built in 1879 that is the heart of our campus.

Whether our families are looking for a different kind of education, a place where their child will be known, a community that shares their values, or simply a little encouragement for the road ahead, we are here for them.

Hope is trusting, having confidence, and expecting something with desire. So, the image of our historic home felt especially fitting, because we can't think of anything more hopeful than a family finding themselves at our doorstep!

That is our purpose and the kind of place we promise The Hope Academy will always be.

This week, two anniversaries of horrific events will come to pass.

It is the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, and the one-year anniversary of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

We wanted to take a moment to acknowledge these tragedies, remember those whose lives were taken, and offer our prayers for the families who continue to carry that loss. We pray for the safety of our first responders, and for the safety of our brothers and sisters in Christ who faithfully proclaim the gospel in the public square.

But we also wanted to offer encouragement amidst the suffering of our broken world.

Ephesians 5:8 reminds us, "for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of the light..."

Our hope is ALWAYS found in Jesus and the Gospel.

We serve a God of comfort, who is always near to the brokenhearted. We serve a sovereign God who is always in control, even when we can't understand the purpose.

So as we remember and mourn this week, may we also remember where our hope is found. May we fix our eyes on Christ, encourage one another, and be a light in a world that desperately needs Him.

250 years of freedom! May God bless our veterans and our great nation.🎉🎆🇺🇸

Crossing the Delaware in 1776 🇺🇸

There are moments in history when everything hangs in the balance and this was one of them.

George Washington and his men were cold, weary, outnumbered, and staring at what appeared to be certain defeat. Yet they crossed anyway. There was ice, darkness, and plenty of uncertainty, but their courage became one of the great turning points in the story of our nation.

As we celebrate 250 years of America, I’m reminded that while we rightly honor the courage of our founders, the true Author of history is God Himself. He is the one who has allowed America to be sustained all these years. Nations rise and fall by His sovereign hand (Daniel 2:21). Every blessing we enjoy (including the gift of liberty) is ultimately from Him.

Let’s celebrate freedom while never forgetting the One who grants it.

Happy 250th, America. May God continue to show us mercy and may we be found faithful. 🇺🇸
