Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, a day to draw nearer to the Heart of Christ, entrusting your prayers to His infinite love in a special way. For generations, the faithful have turned to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in times of joy and sorrow, seeking consolation, healing, and peace. On this great solemnity, your expression of your faith serves as a reminder that Christ's loving heart remains open to all who seek Him.

This year, as we prepare to commemorate America's 250th Anniversary, the Bishops of America are consecrating the United States of America to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. We ask the Lord to bless our families, our communities, our Church, and most especially our Nation, with His mercy, wisdom, and peace.

This Solemnity of the Sacred Heart is also observed throughout the Church as the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests. On this day, you are invited in a special way, to pray for priests, that they may be renewed in holiness, strengthened in their ministry, and ever more closely conformed to the Heart of Christ the High Priest. We encourage you to remember your parish priests, religious, and seminarians in your intentions today.

May the Heart of Jesus, burning with love for humanity, renew your faith, strengthen your hope, and fill your life with His peace.
