Did you know there are TWO Enochs in the Bible? The first one came from Cain (Gen 4:17) and was rebellious against God. The second Enoch, from Jared (Gen 5:18), walked with God and pursued a relationship with God all his life. So much so that he did not die....as God took him up.
The question is....which Enoch are you?
Gen 5:24 Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.
***Notes - Enoch’s walk with God makes him an early example of faith (Heb. 11:5–6), and his being taken by God without dying anticipates the eternal resurrection life that Christ gives (Rom. 8:11).
Heb 11:5 By faith Enoch was taken up so that he should not see death, and he was not found, because God had taken him. Now before he was taken, he was commended as having pleased God. 6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
***Notes - Enoch was taken up. (Genesis 5:21–24) indicates that Enoch did not die but that God “took” him. having pleased God. Genesis also states (twice) that Enoch “walked with God” (Gen. 5:22, 24), and this phrase is interpreted in the Septuagint as Enoch having “pleased God.”
