James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
As Christians, we are all called to care for widows and orphans. While being a foster parent is not a call God has placed on everyone's life, supporting foster children and foster families is something we can all be part of. Whether through prayer, serving, giving resources or simply growing in awareness, there are many ways we can step into this need together.
May is Foster Care Awareness Month. We are partnering with Black Mountain Home for Children, Youth & Families, an incredible local organization, to help shine a light on the needs within the foster care system here in WNC. We want to encourage our church family to ask the Lord how He may be calling you to “look after” foster children and families in our community.
