Welcome to June! Click here to watch this month's exciting ministry updates.

About 50 years ago, I found myself in a situation that would forever change my approach to health. At the time, I was just like many others, trusting in Western healthcare to provide the answers I needed. But during a ministry trip to Malaysia, I picked up parasites that left me feeling unwell. I made 2-3 trips to the doctor, hoping for relief, but each time, they admitted they couldn’t find the parasites. That startled me. I thought, 'If the doctors can’t find what’s wrong, what am I supposed to do?'

Determined to find a solution, I began exploring other options. I discovered there was a naturopath within an hour’s drive from my home. I decided to make the trip and see if he could help. When I arrived, he listened to my story and gave me some herbs. To my amazement, after only one visit, the parasites were chased out of my system. I was astounded! I remember thinking, 'How could this work so quickly when the doctors couldn’t even find the problem?'

Right then, my entire worldview on healthcare changed. I realized that there were answers outside of what I had always relied on. This experience led me to pursue training as a naturopath. I went on to receive a diploma, and for the next 25 years, I did not need to visit a doctor. During those years, I discovered many truths concerning health—truths that aligned with Scripture, were easy, natural, spiritual, and things everyone could do at home. I’ve presented these insights in the training that is being offered this month.

This journey taught me a principle I now live by: 'Take charge of your own health!' Don’t trust it to the government or pharmaceutical companies. God did not anoint either of these to be responsible for your health. He anointed you and the elders of the church (James 5:14-16).

God has provided for us MANY ways to get healed (1 Cor. 12:28). This month we will explore many of God’s avenues to healing. God’s plan is full restoration - spirit, soul and body. It’s a banquet table of multiple avenues to receiving God’s grace!

Lion and Lamb Healing Ministry by Linda John Burton

For many years I knew something was missing and I searched and searched for that something. I was introduced to Counseled by God by Mark and Patti Virkler in 2013 through another ministry newsletter. The more I read, the more I became convinced I had found what I had been looking for. Relationship with God instead of religion.

Because of health issues, I was spending a lot of time in bed. While lying in bed, I tried to apply everything I was reading from 4 Keys To Hearing God’s Voice, Prayers That Heal The Heart and Divine Healing Tool Box. In March of 2014, Jesus laid hands on me and supernaturally healed me. The kinesiologist confirmed the healing. That fall I enrolled in CLU School of The Spirit. I sought opportunities to teach others the wonderful things I was learning and to pray for the sick.

In October of 2023 I was watching an interview with Victor Marx of All Things Possible Ministries. This ministry had been called in to minister healing to the children that had suffered so much trauma when Isreal was attacked on October 7, 2023. They took stuffed lions and lambs with trauma reducing music in them to give to the children. I told the Lord, “I want to do that. I want to give stuffed lion and lamb healing toys to the traumatized and wounded.” The Lord started putting all the pieces together. People started donating fabric and sewing supplies. A neighbor lady and I started sewing. Our lions and lambs for Christ do not have music in them but they do have a big red heart that says Jesus Loves Me on their chests. We sew each lion and lamb as God leads us with love. Each one is prayed over by a team of prayer warriors before going out. Jesus said, “This is why the ministry of lions and lambs for Christ is so important, these carry My heart and speak My love to the wounded in ways that a live person sometimes can’t reach.”

A lion and lamb have gone to a little girl in Indonesia who was s*x trafficked. They have gone to children in hospitals, the sick, hospice, nursing homes, trafficked women’s home, people recovering from addictions, pregnancy center for couples who have miscarried, expecting couples taking child birth classes, and soldiers who call them their battle buddies.

Hearing God’s voice has been so important in this ministry. He reveals the ones who He desires to minister His love to and even picks the lion or lamb that He has chosen for them. I learned last week how some of the lions and lambs continue to be an important part in the lives of those that are healing. Thank You, Jesus!

2 Corinthians 1:3-5 truly applies to what God is doing with Lions and Lambs for Christ.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.

God has ministered to me through His Word and through CWG Ministries in learning how to have a closer more intimate relationship with God and to minister His love to those He brings into my life. Thank You, Father God. Thank You Mark, Patti, Charity and team for all you do to bring us into Father’s love and intimacy with Him.

My Emmaus Road Experience (Lk. 24:13-35)

Lord, please speak with me concerning how I am to be releasing Your grace to others. Thank You, Lord.

Hearing God's voice is as simple as: 1) quieting down (Ps. 62:1-5), 2) beholding Jesus at my right hand (Ps. 16:8; Acts 2:25), 3) asking for His revelation and tuning to spontaneous thoughts and spontaneous pictures (Jn. 7:37-39; Jer. 2:13; 10 pictures), and 4) recording what flows (Hab. 2:1,2; Rev. 1:9-11). I then test it, ensuring it lines up with Scripture (Ps. 1:2; Jn. 10:35; 1 Thess. 5:2) and is affirmed in the hearts of my three spiritual advisors (2 Cor. 13:1; Prov. 11:14). See this link.

Lord, what would You like to say to me about Ezekiel 14:4? by Ken Adrian

This is what the Lord God says: “Anyone of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, puts in front of his face the stumbling block of his wrongdoing, and then comes to the prophet, I the Lord will let Myself answer him in the matter in view of the multitude of his idols.”

Ken, do not allow your prayer requests to become idols in your heart. When you bring your requests to Me, understand that I know what is best for you. When you pray and ask Me for an answer that you want to see fulfilled in your way, you are making your request more important than My relationship with you. Understand that I know what is best for you and want the very best for you. But sometimes My best for you is not what you believe is your best for you. Communication with Me in prayer is cultivating a deep relationship with Me, as the One who provides for all your needs. I am Yahweh Jireh, the Lord your Provider. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:6-7) In your requests, fix your eyes on Me who answers your requests and not on your requests themselves. Now in the same way the Spirit also helps your weakness; for you do not know what to pray for as you should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for you with groanings too deep for words; (Rom 8:26) Present your requests to Me from your spirit and not your mind. As you do that with thankfulness, I will give you peace. You can trust Me that I know what is best for you and will work everything out for good according to My purpose for You. Have faith and trust Me that Father knows best.

How am I to picture Jesus?

The following question was emailed to me: "What does Jesus really look like? Do I see in my heart 'the picture of Jesus' drawn by the artist, but that is the artist’s impression of Jesus. Is there anyone who really knows what Jesus literally looks like? Or can I imagine Jesus as a cross that is shining with light, or a very bright light shining down from the skies, or a bright shining silhouette of a man? If I picture Jesus as the Lion of Judah and I use images of a lion from a Christian website, am I not making those website images as idols? Kindly clarify, thank you."

Great question! As a reminder, the New Testament does say, "Fixing our eyes on Jesus" (Heb. 12:2), and "Behold I am with you always" (Matt. 28:20 NKJV). It goes on to say that Jesus is "the image of the invisible God (Col. 1:15). This means that when I see Jesus, He is showing me God in action. Cool!
So how do I work out this whole idea of beholding Jesus, of fixing my eyes on Jesus?

I can imagine Gospel stories as I read them. One of the definitions of "meditate" is to imagine (Josh. 1:8). The vast majority of people do imagine Gospel scenes with Jesus and the disciples as they read the Gospels.

In addition to imagining these Bible stories, I can see myself in the story as one of the characters, and pray 'that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would give me a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of my heart may be enlightened' (see Eph. 1:17,18).

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit (2 Cor. 3:17-18).

I then tune to flowing pictures and flowing thoughts (Jn. 7:37-39), and the Spirit takes over the scene in my mind, and I see Jesus moving and gesturing and speaking to me. I have just stepped from a godly imagination into a flowing vision from God. As I watch and listen to Jesus and come into agreement by saying “Yes, Lord,” I am transformed into His likeness. What I am seeing in the spirit world, I have taken on and become. I represent Jesus in action here in this world.

Jesus is always much more loving, kind, and insightful than I am. Thus, I am changed as I behold Him and take on what He is speaking and doing. I am functioning as a part of the body of Christ here on the earth. The world gets to see Jesus through me, living out what I see Jesus doing.

Lord, grant me faith to believe the flow within me is the River of Your Holy Spirit!

Being Your Authentic Self Promotes Trust as You Communicate

Have you ever sat across from someone and just known they weren't being real with you? Something felt off — the words sounded right, but your spirit sensed a disconnect. That's because human beings are remarkably sensitive to authenticity. We can detect the gap between what someone says and who they really are. And the opposite is just as true: when someone speaks from a genuinely honest place, trust flows naturally.

The Heart-Mouth Connection

The Bible is remarkably clear about this. Proverbs 16:23 says, "The heart of the wise instructs his mouth and adds persuasiveness to his lips" (NASB). Did you catch that? Persuasiveness — the very thing every communicator wants — doesn't come from polished technique. It flows from the heart.

This is not just poetic language. This is a practical spiritual law. What lives in your heart shapes what comes out of your mouth, and people feel it.

Jesus said it plainly in Matthew 12:34: "For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart" (NASB). You can rehearse words all you like, but what fills your heart is what truly comes out. And when people sense that alignment — when your words and your spirit match — trust is born.
What Authenticity Actually Looks Like

Authentic communication is not the same as saying whatever comes to mind. It's not raw emotion dumped on whoever is nearby. Authentic communication happens when you:

Know who you are in Christ, not who you feel pressured to be
Speak from your actual experience, not from borrowed scripts
Acknowledge what you don't know, rather than performing expertise you don't have
Let your emotions serve your message, rather than suppressing them or letting them control it

I spent years learning this the hard way. For a long time, I communicated from my head — well-researched, thoroughly outlined, and doctrinally correct. But something was missing. It wasn't until I began to minister from my heart, releasing what the Holy Spirit had placed there — faith, compassion, genuine care for the person in front of me — that I began to see real connection. Real trust.

Proverbs 4:23 says, "Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life" (NASB). What flows from your heart flows into your communication. Guard it. Cultivate it. Fill it with truth, love, and genuine encounter with God.
Why People Trust the Authentic Voice

Think about the communicators who have impacted you most deeply. Were they the most polished? The most academically qualified? Or were they the ones who spoke in a way that made you feel known — like they had actually walked the road they were describing?

Trust is built on credibility, and true credibility comes from congruence: your life matching your words. When people sense that you are the same person in front of the camera as you are at home, the same in the pulpit as in the parking lot, they relax. Their guard comes down. They lean in.

The apostle Paul understood this. In 2 Corinthians 1:12 he wrote, "For our proud confidence is this: the testimony of our conscience, that in holiness and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world" (NASB). His authority to speak into people's lives was not his title or his training — it was the integrity of his actual life.
The Enemy of Authentic Communication

The biggest obstacle to authentic communication is fear — specifically, the fear of being truly seen. We perform because we are afraid that if people see who we really are, they won't accept us. So we put on a version of ourselves that we think will be more appealing, more credible, more polished.

But here is the irony: the performance is exactly what blocks trust. People can feel it. They may not be able to name it, but they sense the distance between the mask and the person behind it.

The solution is not bravado or over-sharing. It is simply walking in the security of your identity in Christ. 1 John 4:18 tells us, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear" (NASB). When you are rooted in God's love for you, you no longer need the performance. You can simply be who He made you to be — and that freedom is magnetic.
Practical Steps to Communicate More Authentically

Spend time with God before you speak. Authentic communication flows from a filled heart. If you haven't been listening, you won't have much genuine to say.
Use your own stories. Borrowed illustrations are fine occasionally, but your own lived experience carries an authority no one can replicate or take from you.
Slow down. Rushing through content is often a defense mechanism. Slow down, make eye contact, and let yourself actually be present.
Acknowledge uncertainty honestly. "I don't fully understand this yet" builds more trust than a confident-sounding answer that rings hollow.
Let your compassion show. Emotions surrendered to the Holy Spirit are not weakness — they are the carrier wave of genuine connection.

The Freedom of Being Yourself

Here's the good news: being authentic is actually easier than performing. You never have to remember what version of yourself you were last time. You don't have to maintain a brand image that doesn't match who you are at home. You simply show up as the person God is shaping you to be.

And when you do, you'll find that people trust you — not because you said all the right things, but because they could feel the ring of truth in what you said.

That is the power of authentic communication. And it is available to every one of us.

Enhancing Communication Skills

(Part 1 is here.) How are your communication skills? Have you taken a course on how to be an excellent communicator? Have you journaled, asking the Lord specific questions about how you can improve your communication style?

According to the Carnegie Institute, 85% of financial success is communication skills. My guess is this 85% success rate extends to every area of life, not just financial success. We need excellent communication skills with our spouse, our family members, at church, at the workplace, and in social gatherings. What are the skills that God would have you develop to become a better communicator? The two-way journaling questions below will allow God the opportunity to instruct you concerning enhanced communication skills.

What are the ground rules for interacting with people?

Since God’s Spirit is working in all people, drawing them to the Truth, I will pray for God’s Spirit to move in their hearts as we talk (Jn. 16:8).
If I approach people with honor, gratefulness, and joy, their hearts open to me (Rom. 12:10).
If I approach people with a critical attitude, they feel threatened, go into a self-protective mode, withdraw from me, and may even attack me (Rom. 14:13).
My trust is in God, realizing that sometimes a friend will betray me, as Judas did Jesus (Ps. 118:8; Matt. 10:4).
Self-preservation comes first in almost all cases, so if people feel threatened in any way, they will lash out and/or withdraw and put up a fortress between me and them.
We are drawn to what we enjoy. We open up when we feel safe. I will use laughter and joy as I share life-giving principles from the Scriptures using stories that others can relate to.
I will not cut myself off from people because of their imperfections but will minister God’s grace to them.

I follow Jesus' pattern of circles of intimacy

Since we can’t relate intimately to everyone, what can I learn from the way Jesus structured His relationships? Jesus’ close friends were arranged in circles around Him and were all related to His ministry call (Isa. 61:1-3). John was the closest and then Peter, James, and John in a circle of three. This was followed by a circle of the 12 disciples, then the group of 70 (Lk. 10). Finally, Jesus related to the multitudes that came to receive ministry. Wisdom would recommend that we follow Jesus’ pattern.
We are a neighbor when we lovingly care for a person in need (Lk. 10:36; 1 Cor. 10:24).
Friends may betray us (Lk. 21:16) and if they do, we focus on making these opponents our friends so they do not take us to court. In court, we lose everything (Matt. 5:25).

I give to others the strength the Lord has given me

My goal is to experience and minister Christ's life in each situation and to each person. So how do I ensure God’s love, joy, and strength are present?

Source 1: “The joy of the Lord is my strength” (Neh. 8:10; 1 Chron. 16:27; Ps. 81:1). God’s joy makes me want to sing and shout. It is the heartwarming emotion I feel when I experience His unconditional love. This occurs every time I interact with Jesus, Immanuel, the one whom I behold at my side (Ps. 16:8; Acts 2:25). As I see Jesus present and walking with me, I am transformed by what He is saying and doing (2 Cor. 3:17-18). I speak and do what He is speaking and doing. What I see Jesus doing energizes me by granting me God’s emotions. God’s emotions release God’s power (Acts 2:1-4; Ps. 133; Matt. 14:14).

Jesus, the great storyteller, painted Kingdom pictures (Matt. 13:13) which released Kingdom emotions, which in turn released Kingdom power. As we share Spirit-led stories/pictures of how Jesus has encountered our lives and ministered His grace to us, we ask the Spirit to draw from these beautifully painted stories the appropriate principles which will transform and improve the listeners' lives.

Source 2: “Two are better than one” (Eccl. 4:9). Therefore I will invest the time, attention, and energy to ensure a close friendship with my spouse or, if not married, with another person. I need the strength of someone at my side.

Source 3: “A cord of three is not quickly broken” (Eccl. 4:12). It is in the multitude of counselors that there is safety, wisdom, and strength (Prov. 11:14). So I will seek out and honor a multi-gifted team of counselors. I am not designed to walk alone.
I continuously extend to others...

Honor - even our differences are fine
Emotional encouragement - I understand how you feel
Unity - never picturing division
Mercy - Yup blowing it is part of life
Service - how can I help you?

These are expanded in the article 36 One Another Commands. These are God's rules for interpersonal relationships. I recommend memorizing the five motivations above. Then make sure you are honoring these five attitudes throughout the day in every encounter.

If you want to reduce the five down to one for easy recall, it is "Treat people the same way you want them to treat you" (Matt. 7:12 NASB).

Journaling questions when I’m in a relational stance

Jesus, as I speak with this person, do I have a smile on my face and an upbeat voice? Can I smile on the inside as well as the outside or do I feel like I need to force it?
Lord, am I honoring emotional responses (mine and the person I am with)?
Jesus, let me see You next to this person. What life-giving words are You speaking to them? I shall speak the same.
Jesus, am I overwhelming this person (with my energy, words, mind)? Do I need to pause?
Lord, what do You want me to note in the body language of this person?
Lord, am I listening to them to hear their hearts OR to offer a comeback? “Active listening” defined - Listen closely to what a person is saying and then respond, “What I think I am hearing you say is this… because of this… Is that correct?” This keeps you focused on what the person is saying, rather than on thinking about what you are going to say next. It ensures that you heard properly. It makes the person feel they have been heard. It deepens relationships.
Lord, what is the root cause of the pain that I (or this person) am experiencing right now, and what is Your approach to resolving it?
Lord, am I employing my gifts from You to serve this person well (1 Pet. 4:8-11)?

Journaling questions when I need to return to a relational stance

Jesus, am I in a fight-or-flight posture where I just want a problem, person, or feeling to go away? Is my mind "locked onto" something upsetting and I don’t want to listen?
Lord, am I returning to calm after upsetting emotions (e.g. breathing deeply and slowly, going for a walk, taking a nap, worshipping, praying in tongues, etc.)?
Lord, how do You want me to respond to resolve the tension in this relationship? Lord, what would You have me do rather than withdraw from this relationship?
Lord, what steps would You have me take to find and return to joy right now, and do I need to seek input from multi-gifted counselors who are ahead of me?
Ask the individual, “What can I do to improve our relationship?” Then, to the best of your God-anointed ability, humbly do what is asked.
Lord, what are gifts of love I can extend toward this person?
Lord, what would You reveal that will restore my hope and give me direction? What is the gift You are bringing forth through the tension in this situation?

A list of the above journaling questions can be downloaded here.
