St. Luke congregation was established in 1945 in the Town of Cheektowaga, a suburb of Buffalo. We are part of the Western New York Lutheran community.

"Cheektowaga" is an Iroquois word meaning "land of the crabapples". Since its beginnings, St. Luke has been blessed in many ways and has been a blessing through many tasks done to the glory of God.

Sundays at 11:00 a.m. — Soul Celebration Worship (1st & 3rd Sundays) and Blended Worship (2nd, 4th & 5th Sundays)
Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. — Casual Worship

Also returning this week during the 11:00 a.m. service: our Kids’ Sunday School and Nursery

Some started last week, many went back today, some will start tomorrow, and so we pray.

Heavenly Father,

As our students begin a new school year, we place them into Your loving hands. Walk with them as they enter their classrooms. Calm their worries, give them peace, open their minds to learn, and help them discover and use the gifts You have given them.

We pray for teachers, administrators, aides, counselors, bus drivers, crossing guards, cafeteria workers, and everyone who cares for them throughout the school day. Give them patience, strength, compassion, and joy.

Holy Spirit, protect our kids as they travel to and from school. Help them to be kind to others, to stand up for those who are lonely or hurting, and to remember that wherever they go, they belong to You.

We pray for an amazing year.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

After looking at the radar and keeping an eye on the weather, we have decided to move our 8:30 AM worship service inside this morning.

It may rain, it may not, but we’re going to play it safe and worship together in the sanctuary.

A few weeks ago, a representative from St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Cheektowaga heard about WNY Foster Closet and stopped by to learn more about what we do. Several weeks later, he returned with the pastor and presented us with a very generous financial donation.

After hearing about our ongoing need for underwear, socks, and pajamas, they got right to work! The church asked its parishioners to bring in items to support WNY Foster Closet, and this past week they showed up again… and boy, did they deliver!

They arrived with several boxes filled with the much-needed items they had collected for us.

Thank you to everyone at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church who donated and supported this drive. After our busy back-to-school event, we were running low on so many sizes of underwear and socks, and this donation certainly helped us restock our drawers… literally!

We are so grateful for your kindness and generosity and for helping us continue to meet the needs of the children and families we serve. ❤️

If you received the letter about Children/Youth ministries in the mail, the date for the Youth Glow Night was wrong. (Pastor Phil messed up)

The Glow Night for 6th-12th graders will be Sunday, September 20th from 7-9 pm.
