Mary Ellen Davidson Obituary
Mary Ellen Davidson, age 83, of Buckhannon, WV, died Friday, April 3, 2026, at Crestview Manor in Jane Lew, WV. She was born October 9, 1942, in Akron, OH, a daughter of the late Willis Clayton and Cinderella Edna Teter Davidson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis Clayton Davidson, Jr. and John Edward Davidson; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Davidson and her former husband, Joseph McCoy. She is survived by one sister, Hallie Hurst and husband Jim of Buckhannon; one brother, Kenneth Teter Davidson and wife Charlotte of Buckhannon, and her beloved cats who remain in the sanctuary she created for them She is also survived by nephews John R Davidson and wife Billie, Kenneth “Buddy” Davidson, Matthew Davidson, Billy Hurst and wife Tracy, Sam Hurst and wife Ashley, and nieces Joni Roby, Jena Liggett, and Jan Davidson Tisdale, as well as several great nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen graduated from Alderson Broaddus College with a BS degree in Nursing and completed her Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. She worked for several years as a psychiatric nurse who counseled clients, taught students, and cared for patients. Her most memorable work was done at WV Wesleyan College, Davis and Elkins College, and Fairmont State College, as well as United Hospital Center and Sharpe Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buckhannon and of the Rock Cave Eastern Star Aletha Chapter #82. Mary Ellen enjoyed playing the piano both for her church and the Eastern Stars. Anyone interested in helping to rehome her cats can contact her sister at [email protected]. In honoring her wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held 2 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Buckhannon with Pastor Doris Brunty officiating. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Please join us this Christmas Eve for a special candlelight service beginning at 6:00 PM. Our Interim Pastor Doris Brunty will be leading the service. Communion will be offered and the choir will sing. We are the First Baptist Church in Buckhannon, located at 42 Hart Avenue. Our sanctuary is beautifully decorated and all are welcome! In the event you can't attend, all of our services are live-streamed on Facebook at: Buckhannon First Baptist Church. Replays are also available on our YouTube channel following the service.

All church worship service videos have now been uploaded to YouTube. There are approximately 277 videos available to view. Unfortunately, some services were either not live-streamed or recorded onto media, so there may be some gaps here and there. On a positive note, every single worship service that I have on my home computer or on other types of storage media are now available in one single place...YouTube. The church YouTube channel is: Buckhannon First Baptist Church. The videos start in mid 2020 during the COVID situation and continue through our most recent service in 2025. Please note a lot of the early videos are of lower resolution and may appear fuzzy. The very first worship service using the new production equipment is Easter 2021. (April 4) You will notice a drastic improvement in quality. Please take some time and reflect on some of these videos!
