Akoda in Ifa means the first creature in existence that is usually given reverence to anytime success is desired in any Ifa spiritual work. Some schools of thought are of the opinion that Akoda was the first student of Orunmila. Whichever the case may be, the bottom line is the word “first” in the perception of what Akoda is. In the course of the conception of Akoda Temple of Thought we were think
ing of an organization that will be in the fore front of information and acquisition of IFA knowledge in order to impact positively on the lives of all and sundry. For quite some time it has been observed that the knowledge of Ifa has been restricted to occult and divination practices among the privileged few, which created a wide gap between the Ifa Priests and Practitioners and the ordinary man on the street. Some information is being mangled out of shape and or distorted, and therefore people more often than not do not seem to understand the meaning and application of Ifa knowledge to other areas of human endeavor than the divinatory and occult aspects mentioned above. This is because of the wrong perception, misinterpretation, and dearth of adequate information relating to Ifa’s epistemology and its relevance in human development. Ifa is an embodiment of knowledge and wisdom which explains all things and the basis for their existences. Researchers have also shown that there is virtually nothing on earth and even beyond that Ifa does not dwell on. However, it is imperative for us to make an exposition
of Ifa in all other human endeavors with a view to making a better understanding of Ifa as a veritable way of achieving a better life and living on earth. However, a program in Ifa is conceived by the Temple in order to bridge the wide knowledge gap by providing resource bank for interested people to learn with a view to improving our spiritual awareness and ability and to translate the abundant energies of nature and the divinities into positive action.
