The BBQ ministry is off to a strong start this summer! We just finished week 3 of firing up the grills, serving food, and offering hope. Inviting someone to join us for a meal is really an invite to fellowship, building trust, and sharing the hope we have in Jesus. And WOW is God moving in our community! So many sweet connections have been made at each of our locations. Serving in the rain this week let the residents know we care about them and we will keep showing up.

Today we are highlighting our Care Ministry Groups in the lobby. Recovery in the Spirit is one of our groups that is helping people find freedom from addiction through a relationship with Christ. Check out Stan and Jon’s stories!

"Be still."

Those two words sound so simple, yet they may be some of the hardest words to live out.

Did you know it's nearly impossible to be completely still? Our bodies were designed for movement. The average person blinks 15–20 times every minute, our hearts never stop beating, and we even burn calories while we sleep! Being still doesn't come naturally—it requires intention, focus, and effort.

That's why I love a line from the worship song Center that our team has been singing:

"Teach us to discern the moment, when to serve and when to sit here at Your feet."

Life moves fast. In fact, the older I get, the more I realize just how true it is that "time flies." We fill our days with responsibilities, schedules, notifications, and endless tasks. Yet in the middle of all the movement, God invites us to be still and know that He is God.

Don't miss the blessing of simply sitting in the presence of your Savior. There is peace, strength, wisdom, and joy found at His feet that cannot be found anywhere else.

Take a moment today. Slow down. Quiet your heart. Be still.

"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10

Life can be difficult, but you don't have to walk through it alone.

At Community Bible Church, our Care Ministries exist to provide biblical encouragement, practical support, and Christ-centered community for those facing grief, divorce, caregiving challenges, addiction recovery, cancer, and struggles with purity.

These ministries are about more than receiving care—they are also about equipping believers to care for others. Every day we encounter friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers who are hurting and searching for hope. Through these groups, you'll find support for your own journey while learning how to share Christ's love with those around you.

Whether you are personally walking through a difficult season or want to be better equipped to help someone who is, we invite you to connect with one of our Care Ministry Groups.

🍩 Happy National Donut Day! 🍩

I love spending time in donut shops—or really any place with a glass display case full of options. I enjoy sitting off to the side and watching people approach the counter. Their eyes light up, smiles appear, and sometimes you can almost see them trying not to lick their lips! For some, choosing between sprinkles or no sprinkles feels like an impossible decision.

Watching people make those choices reminds me a little of God's blessings. He has given us so much through Christ—grace, forgiveness, purpose, peace, and the promise of eternal life. These gifts are freely offered, but we must choose whether or not we will receive them.

The Christian life is filled with steps of obedience. For some, that first step is placing their faith in Jesus as Savior. For others, it is following Him in baptism. Sometimes it means taking the more difficult step of picking up our cross, surrendering our plans, and following Christ wherever He leads.

As someone who has followed Jesus for most of my life, I've experienced seasons of obedience and seasons of wandering. Through it all, I can honestly say there is nothing like walking closely with God and enjoying a relationship with Him as both Father and Friend.

The only thing that brings me more joy than my own journey is watching others take those steps of faith. I love seeing people "step up to the counter" and say yes to what God is offering them.

So where are you today?

Have you fully surrendered your life to Jesus? Have you taken the step of baptism? Is there an area where God is calling you to trust Him more deeply and follow Him more faithfully?

Don't settle for standing on the sidelines. The blessings of walking with Christ are too good to pass up.

"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." — James 4:8
