Teaching the Next Generation
One of the greatest responsibilities we have is teaching the next generation the Word of God. Children need more than good advice, good manners, and good opportunities. They need to know the Bible, because the Bible teaches them who God is, what sin is, who Jesus is, and how to live faithfully before Him.
Noah was a good man. Genesis 6:9 says, “Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.” In a wicked world, Noah’s faith and obedience helped save his family.
Abraham was a good father. God said, “For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him” (Genesis 18:19). Abraham was expected to lead his home in the way of the Lord.
Jacob was a good grandfather. In Genesis 48, he blessed Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, and spoke of the God who had cared for him all his life. He used his final days to point his grandchildren toward God.
Faith must not stop with us. We must teach our children and grandchildren to love God, obey His Word, and follow Jesus. The next generation needs the Bible, and they need us to teach it.
