* The first church built at the present site was built

in 1860, but was tore down and rebuilt in 1910. This church building was destroyed by a storm in 1918 and a new concrete structure was erected later that year. (Salem is located on the 2nd highest hill in Gibson County)

*In 1951, the church was remodeled and Sunday school rooms were added..
*In 1959, an annex was added.
*In 1971, the church was destroyed by fire.
*Less than a year later in 1972, a new brick church was constructed. Swink deeded an additional acre of land to the church. In 1974, Salem and Rutherford Methodist Church purchased a parsonage located in Rutherford. In 1975, Salem held a dedication service and was able to "burn the note" on the existing debt of their building. Four of Salem's membership have become ministers: Bro. Sam Morrison, Bro. Frank Jones, Bro. James Cotham, and Bro. Benny Douglas Hopper.

We extend a warm welcome to everyone to attend our Worship Service Sunday Morning at 11:00. Brother Jonathan's message is taken from John 7:37-39 "Living Water".
We hope everyone has a blessed Memorial Day weekend; take time to remember and honor the military men and women who died while serving our country. To quote President Harry Truman, "our debt to the heroic men and women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices."
