🌿 The History of The Gardens at Gethsemane
Every cemetery has a story. At The Gardens, our story began more than 150 years ago with Gottlieb F. Burkhardt, a German immigrant who believed that his success should be used to help others.
In 1873, honoring Burkhardt’s wishes, Gethsemane Cemetery was created on the historic Brook Farm property. From the very beginning, The Gardens has remained non-sectarian, welcoming families without religious or residential requirements.
Today, The Gardens at Gethsemane continues to honor Gottlieb Burkhardt’s vision and philosophy by providing a peaceful place where families can remember, reflect, and preserve the stories of those who came before us.
150+ years of history. Generations of memories. A legacy that continues. 🌳
