What’s your favorite Adon Olam tune?

On Saturday, May 30, we’re excited to welcome back Anat Hochberg, who will once again, be leading Shabbat services together with Rabbi Aliza

This short clip is from Anat’s visit to HBT in April, when our congregation joined together in singing her beautiful version of Adon Olam at the close of services.

There are so many melodies for Adon Olam. Which one stays with you?

This Sunday, May 10, Temple Hillel B’nai Torah walks as part of the Interfaith contingent in Dorchester. Rodef shalom — pursuing peace — is not a metaphor. It means showing up.

Why?
In 1996, Chaplain Clementina Chéry lost her son Louis to gun violence. Mother’s Day was supposed to be a celebration — but she was grieving. So she walked, in the neighborhood where he was killed, as an act of remembrance and a refusal to be silent. Other mothers who had lost children came. Then their families. Then the whole community.

Thirty years later, the Mother’s Day Walk for Peace is one of the largest organized walks in New England.

Walk with us, learn more, or donate to the HBT team.

Temple Hillel B'nai Torah joins the 30th Annual Mother's Day Walk for Peace on Sunday, May 10, 2026 in Dorchester, MA. Walk or donate to support the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute. Join the HBT team at tinyurl.com/HBT-Walk-2026.

Haimish/Homey Boston Synagogue Seeks Religious School Teachers
Dates: 9 months per year (September - May)
Hours: weekly Sunday mornings, some grades meet Wednesday afternoons as well
Compensation: $40-$60 per hour, based on experience and education

Temple Hillel B'nai Torah (HBT), a down-to-earth, social-justice-oriented, diverse Reconstructionist congregation in the city of Boston, MA (West Roxbury), led by Rabbi Aliza Schwartz, seeks a few teachers to join our religious school (Chaverim / Friends) for the 2026-2027 school year.

Our curriculum is tied to the four pillars of our synagogue: Torah / Learning, Chavurah / Community, Avodah / Worship & Spirituality, and Tikkun Olam / Repairing the World. For more about HBT and the Chaverim School, go to templehbt.org. All grades meet Sunday mornings 9:45am-12:15pm; 3rd-6th graders also meet Wednesday afternoons 4:30-6pm.

Expectations include regular meetings for teachers (1 - 2 per month), lesson planning, and weekly communication with parents, as well as progress reports once per semester. Prior teaching/camp counselor experience is preferred. College students are welcome to apply. We are particularly interested in hiring Jews of Color as teachers in our school.

Please direct inquiries to Education Director Hillary Pinsker Engler at [email protected]. Please include a copy of your resume.
