UPDATE: All who were displaced have other housing arrangements and do not need to use the Red Cros shelter services. The Red Cross will be working on a few cases this morning and then their work at FBC will come to a close. All activities will return to their regular spaces.

Many of you are aware that there was a fire in our community in the wee hours of Monday morning. 23 individuals have been misplaced. Currently these people are staying with families, friends or in hotels. However, the projected time before they will be able to return to their apartments is between 8 and 14 days. FBC has opened our doors to the Red Cross to operate a shelter. We don't know yet how many will need to make use of the shelter, but it is available to them and the church is staffed with Red Cross volunteers 24/7. We will know more in the next day or two if people will be sheltered here. If not, the Red Cross will remain here to continue the "intake" process and help people procure the longer-term resources that will be available to them.

Due to this situation, our Tuesday evening and Thursday morning book clubs as well as our Wednesday morning and evening Bible Studies have been moved to the parlor on the main level. Depending on how things develop, we will consider what changes might need to be made to our Sunday morning routine...worship and Sunday school will continue as scheduled. However, the adult class and the post-worship fellowship time may be moved to different spaces.

Please pray for those who have been impacted by the fire.
I will keep you posted. -Pastor Janell

In the wake of yesterday’s historic flooding in Nepal, International Ministries (IM) is responding with $10,000 in One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) emergency disaster relief funds to support our partners as they provide food, shelter, and emergency supplies to those most affected.

As relief efforts begin, IM's Area Director for East and South Asia remains in close communication with our partners in Nepal to assess needs and coordinate support.

🙏 Please join us in prayer:
• For families who have been displaced, lost loved ones, or seen their homes destroyed.
• For first responders searching for survivors in collapsed homes and buildings.
• For the restoration of electricity, clean water, and communication systems, and protection from potential health crises.
• For long-term recovery efforts, wisdom for leaders, and resilience for communities as they rebuild.

You can help by sharing this urgent call to prayer and by supporting IM’s local disaster relief partners through your American Baptist church, by giving online, or by sending a check to International Ministries designated “OGHS–Nepal Relief.”
