Twenty-five years later, we remember how The Salvation Army stood alongside first responders and survivors of 9/11 at Ground Zero, the Pentagon and Shanksville, offering care and support during an unimaginable time.

The small acts of kindness offered during that time helped carry people through unimaginable grief. Today, we can honor that legacy by continuing to show up for people in our own communities.

On September 11, 2001, The Salvation Army responded at Ground Zero, the Pentagon and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, serving those who rushed toward the crisis and those who remained for the long recovery.

From meals and supplies to prayer, emotional care and practical support, Salvation Army officers, staff and volunteers stood alongside first responders, recovery workers, military personnel and grieving families.

Twenty-five years later, their stories remain a powerful reminder of what it means to serve.
