Thank you to David & Kathy Griesemer for sharing a part of their story. Coming to Bisbee in 1973 presented them with an opportunity to become part of a church body that was so united they just did life together. They watched each other’s kids grow up and become the adults they are today. The Griesemer’s were part of a bigger picture plan for Bisbee where the body of FBC set out to build a bigger building with more parking to spread the Gospel with the families of San Jose.
Kathy states, “This was done with a lot of hard work and many personalities. Not everyone agreed about the colors or the structure but we came together to build it anyway because it was never about the building. “ David remembers Hard Hats For Christ being instrumental in the construction of the building. He recounts using his masonry skills to help provide the block to build this place. “Some people were not very pleased with the block being all different colors, but when we were getting it all from left over jobs and at half the price it was what made sense.” By God’s grace the 90’s brought FBC to the San Jose area and provided the community with what the church body intended it to be used for. Many 40 somethings can look back at the times when Awana’s was the place to be as a youngster and people were here to love on those youth and share who Jesus is. Unity made this dream a reality, all thanks to the hands and feet of the original First Baptist Church and glory to God for an opportunity to serve. Now we continue the work that was laid out before us. Let’s move forward with the original mission and change the things that get in the way of the heart of that mission.
