"I never felt unordained."

Thirty-two years after surrendering her ministerial credentials at the request of her bishop, Rev. Lauren Grace Scruggs was restored as an elder in full connection at Annual Conference in June.

Standing together at Lake Junaluska, Bishop Ken Carter took her hands and said, "As Bishop, Lauren, I apologize to you."

"And I accept it," she answered.

Clergy and laity rose in a standing ovation.
