🖤⛪️ I Love My Church Because...

God has been faithful here.

Buildings hold memories, but churches hold testimonies.

For generations, people have walked through the doors of 16th Street carrying prayers, dreams, questions, grief, joy, and hope.

And through every season, one truth remains: God has been faithful.

Faithful in moments of celebration.

Faithful in seasons of sorrow.

Faithful when the way forward was clear.

Faithful when His people had to walk by faith.

And He is still faithful today.

That is one reason we love our church, not because our story has always been easy, but because God has remained faithful through every chapter of it.

That is one of the gifts of church community.

This morning, we’re grateful for another opportunity to gather at 16th Street Baptist Church, open God’s Word, lift our voices, and grow together in faith.

Today, the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church family celebrates a remarkable man whose life has been marked by faith, firsts, and faithfulness! 🙌🏾

🇺🇸 In service to his country:
A World War II trailblazer who served at Iwo Jima.

⚾️ On the field: Negro League star, Major League player, and the first Black pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals.
⛪️ In the Church: A beloved Sixteenth Street member who was licensed to preach here.

🙏🏾 In ministry: Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church for an incredible 55 years!
From the ballfield to the pulpit, from breaking barriers to building believers, Rev. Greason’s life is a testimony of legacy, leadership, and longevity.
102 years of grace.
102 years of greatness.

Church is more than attending a worship service.

Jesus calls us to grow, to learn His Word, to ask questions, to pray, and to become more like Him.

He calls us to walk alongside other believers, and eventually, to help someone else grow too.

That's discipleship.

At 16th Street, Sunday School creates space to go deeper into God's Word and grow together in community.

There's a difference between simply knowing about God and intentionally learning to walk with Him.

We don't just gather; we grow.

This is discipleship.

This is 16th Street.

We invite you to join us tomorrow from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for prayer.

This is a time to strengthen your faith and your connection to the body of Christ. We are believing God for breakthroughs, restoration, and fresh fire. Whatever you need, God is able.

🖤⛪️ I Love My Church Because... WE SERVE TOGETHER. 💙

Our faith was never meant to stay inside the sanctuary.

At 16th Street, service is one way we put our beliefs into action. Whether we’re caring for someone in our church family, supporting our neighbors, serving in the Birmingham community, or simply noticing where help is needed and showing up, every act of service matters.

We serve because Christ first served us, and because loving our neighbors should be visible.

That is one reason we love our church. We serve together.
