Psalm 34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

We want to take a moment to recognize the tragedy that occurred in our community this past Sunday. Our entire community is mourning, and as a part of this community, we are grieving too.

As New Apostolic Christians, we can be of the most help when we pray.

We pray for the families and friends who are grieving as they navigate this horrific pain. We pray for the first responders who answered the call and are now processing all that they experienced. We pray for the souls who, through this tragedy, have now entered eternity—that they are welcomed by messengers of peace and may find their way to the altar of grace.

As we heard in Divine Service this past Sunday, mutual love and honor within the family teaches us the power of those qualities beyond the family. When we care for one another, that love shapes the church into a community where people truly belong—a place where each one can encounter Christ’s love.

Today, Billings needs our prayers. So let us pray and serve as His messengers to our community, that we can be the hands and heart of Christ to one another.

The Blue Angels pilots are the best of the best. Yet we have something even better; being a child of God!

Even if you didn’t attend the Airshow, it was nearly impossible to spend this past week in Billings without seeing or hearing the Blue Angels flying overhead. They are certainly impressive—precise, disciplined, focused, and committed to working together as a team.

But beyond the incredible sights and sounds, what can we learn from the Blue Angels about living our life of faith?

Understanding will never bring you Peace. That's why I have instructed you to trust in Me, not in your understanding. Human beings have a voracious appetite for trying to figure things out in order to gain a sense of mastery over their lives. But the world presents you with an endless series of problems. As soon as you master one set, another pops up to challenge you. The relief you had anticipated is short-lived. Soon your mind is gearing up again: searching for understanding (mastery) instead of seeking Me (your Master).

The wisest of all men, Solomon, could never think his way through Peace. His vast understanding resulted in feelings of futility rather than in fullfillment. Finally, he lost his way and succumbed to the will of his wives by worshiping idols.

My Peace is not an elusive goal, hidden at the center of some complicated maze. Actually, you are always enveloped in Peace, which is inherent in My Presence. As you look to Me, you gain awareness of this precious Peace.
