Money is like a truth serum. It brings out your true nature. But if you trust Jesus as Savior and follow Him as Lord, you have a new nature. You don’t want to worship your wants. You don’t want to be mastered by money and possessed by possessions. You want to live with thankfulness, generosity, discipline, and humility before the God who has made you truly rich in Jesus. Your culture will call you to covetousness. Your heart will lure you to covetousness. But by the grace of the God of grace, you will be careful to seek Jesus’ wise ways.

Not everyone will like you, especially if you live for Jesus. But God the Father has loved you and sent His Son to live, die, and rise for you. He has given you His Holy Spirit to give you words and peace. Live dependently by preparing and praying in His presence, for you are never more safe than when you are most sensible that you can do nothing without Him.
