Christ Renews His Parish
History of CRHP
Christ Renews His Parish is a Catholic Parish Renewal program that began in 1968 in the Cleveland Diocese. Presently it has spread across the United States to over 1,000 parishes, 62 Diocese in 30+ states (+ also in Italy). Christ Renews His Parish is a program designed to bring adult members of a parish together in Christ. The emphasis during the weekend
is on small group participation. The process is centered on witnessing by team members. It is NOT a silent retreat. It is NOT a public confession. It is NOT an emotional cult. It is NOT a Parish clique
Who may participate? Men and women participate on different weekends. You must be at least 21 years old to attend at Saint Cecilia. Every member of the Parish is invited to attend. Due to space limitations, there is a limit to number of participants we can accommodate each year. Sign up now! What happens during the weekend? Most who have participated in the weekend say that “you can’t explain what happens; you have to experience it.” This is your invitation to that experience. The CRHP renewal is a spiritual uplifting program that follows a schedule that is varied and provides time for prayer, song, reflection, Eucharist, and celebration in a warm, relaxing, and comfortable setting. Who conducts the weekend? The presenting team is made up of men and women from our parish that previously experienced the Christ Renews His Parish weekends. How long does it last? The weekend begins at 8:30am on a Saturday and will conclude by 4pm on Sunday. Why should I participate in Renewal? Whether your faith is strong or weak, whether you are an active parishioner or one who rarely attends Mass, you will benefit from attending the Renewal weekend. It will strengthen your relationship with God and bring you closer to Him. It is also an opportunity for you to meet other people from the Parish. What about the weekend Mass? There will be a special Eucharistic Celebration for those attending the weekend. Families of team members and participants are also invited to this Mass. Where do people sleep? This is a Parish Renewal and therefore sleeping accommodations will be at St. Cecilia Parish. Cots are available or you may bring sleeping bags, air/mattresses or rollaway beds. What about meals? Hot meals are served. The food is excellent and the portions ample. There will also be regular breaks for coffee, cold drinks and snacks. Special dietary needs can be accommodated. What is the dress code? Whatever makes you comfortable! Casual and comfortable is the norm. “Sunday best” is not expected. Can I afford the cost of the weekend? YES! The Renewal Weekend is a gift from the Parish. I would like to attend, but I have a health problem. Your health problem should be discussed with a physician and the Spiritual Director. A recommendation will then be made. I don’t like to get up and talk in front of others. No one is required or pressured to get up and speak.
