The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has pledged to distribute 250 truckloads of food to 250 food banks in the United States.

A major food donation rolled into Jackson Thursday to help fight hunger.

The Regional Inter–Faith Association, or RIFA, received a justserve–branded semi truck carrying about 36,000 lbs of food as part of a national service effort ahead of America’s 250th birthday.

It’s one of 250 truckloads being sent to communities in all 50 states. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is partnering with America 250 on the initiative, and RIFA says the donation will make a big difference for local families heading into the summer months.

On March 3, more than 100 leaders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across Tennessee gathered at the state capitol for the Church’s first participation in a Day on the Hill.

The group received a warm welcome from Secretary Tre Hargett, who encouraged civic engagement, and then heard remarks from Area Seventy Steven Bodhaine, who emphasized shared commitments to love God and serve our neighbors.

Memphis area stake leaders met with Senator Sara Kyle, Rep. Johnny Shaw, and Rep. Tom Leatherwood among others to express appreciation for their public service and discuss the Church’s humanitarian and volunteer efforts, its support for religious freedom and unity, and the importance of strengthening youth and families.
