This Tuesday, Morning Prayer features the commemoration the Presentation of the Augsburg Confession.

Technically on June 25, 1530 the German and Latin editions of the Augsburg Confession were presented to the Emperor Charles of the Holy Roman Empire. The Augsburg Confession was written by Philipp Melanchthon and endorsed by Martin Luther, and consists of a brief summary of points in which the reformers saw their teaching as either agreeing with or differing from that of the Roman Catholic Church of the time.

Our next food distribution is this weekend! Summer is filled with trips and vacation, so volunteers are often harder to come by. If you are in town, would you consider lending a hand? Volunteers are needed Friday midday, afternoon and early evening, and Saturday morning and early afternoon.

Today, we honor the memory of the Emanuel Nine and continue to commit ourselves to the work of justice, reconciliation and faith.

"Creator God,

You lovingly created every person in Your beautiful image. We confess that we have not loved and protected Your beloved creation well. Racism and hate continue to blossom, disfiguring Your beautiful and divine plan for human life.

Help our unbelief, O God, in the realities of racism and oppression; remove the scales from our eyes and our hearts. Forgive us for our participation, both knowingly and unknowingly, in its flourishing. Give us the courage to remember and share these true stories of cruelty and injustice, and those who, because of it, lost their lives and freedom. Grant us determination and an accountable community to interrupt these unjust systems. Help us to use our voices, our agency, and our faith to advocate for justice.

Amen."

Good morning from Southeast Baltimore after a great and exhausting week. We were so glad to host high school volunteers from Spring Grove United Methodist Church in Raleigh and Trinity Lutheran Church in Reading over the past week. They served directly with us and with six local partners, enjoyed time sailing and exploring the park, and were joined for many of their adventures by the great student leaders of SOMOS. Many thanks to all of those who helped to support them during their time here in our city.

This week our attention turns to Escuela Bíblica de Vacaciones + Vacation Bible School, which will run Monday-Friday, 5:30pm-7:30pm. We hope that you will be able to participate!

And, of course, today we gather for worship and prayer, Bible study and a meal, and great opportunities to connect with one another and with God. You are most welcome to participate alongside your neighbors, in person or online. We will see you soon.

This Tuesday, Morning Prayer features a commemoration of Basil the Great, Bishop of Caesarea; Gregory, Bishop of Nyssa; gregory of Nazianzus, Bishop of Constantinople; and Macrina, teacher

The Cappadocian fathers, as the three men in this group are known, explored the mystery of the Holy Trinity. Basil’s monastic rule forms the basis for Eastern monastic life. Gregory of Nazianzus defended orthodox Christianity in Constantinople. Gregory of Nyssa, Basil’s younger brother, wrote on the spiritual life. Macrina, older sister of Basil and Gregory of Nyssa, was the leader of a community dedicated to asceticism, meditation, and prayer.

It's crab feast day at Breath Of God Lutheran Church (Pratt and Clinton Streets). We JUST increased our crab order last night based on trends in registration--so we definitely need the help of additional walk-in people today to get all of these crabs eaten! 12:30pm-4pm, recommended donation of $55 per adult.
