Worship at Immanuel is Christ-centered, Word-inspired, and Prayer-filled. Our purpose is to worship God, Father Son and Holy Spirit in such as way as to inspire and equip you to live out your life as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Each week fall through spring we offer one worship service open to all at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays. That worship service is also livestreamed on Facebook on this page.

From Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend we worship on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. and Sundays at 9 a.m. Our communion table is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ and wish to receive this gift of grace and forgiveness. Children who are unaccustomed to receiving communion are invited to come forward to receive a blessing.

C: The light that no darkness can overcome.
P: Stay with us, Lord, for it is evening.
C: And the day is almost over.
P: Let your light scatter the darkness.
C: And illumine your Church.
P: For even the darkness is not dark to you.
C: The night is bright as the day.

Hymn "Love Divine, All Loves Excelling" #14

Salutation & Prayer
P: The Lord be with you.
C: And also with you.
P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
C: It is right to give him thanks and praise.
P: Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common prayers to you. You have promised through your beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together in his name, you will be in the midst of them. Answer, O Lord, our desires and petitions as you determine best for us — granting us, in this world, the knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come, everlasting life in you. Amen.

Lesson Romans 4:3-25

Message/Discussion

The Apostles’ Creed
P: Let us join together in confessing our faith with the saints who have gone before us, in the words of the Apostles’ Creed:
C: I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Quiet Prayer

Luther’s Evening Prayer

We beg you to forgive us all our sins and the wrong which we have done. By your great mercy defend us from all the perils and dangers of this night. Into your hands we commend our bodies and souls and all that is ours. Let your holy angels have charge of us, that the wicked one have no power over us. Amen.

CONFESSION & FORGIVENESS

In the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Rejoicing in the resurrection, let us seek God’s forgiveness, that dying to sin, we may walk in newness of life.
(Silence for reflection & self-examination)
Faithful God,

We confess that we have tried to live by our own poor strength, shunning the earth-shaking power of the resurrection. We have doubted your promises. We have failed to recognize you in the poor and needy. Have mercy on us, forgive us our sin, and restore to us the joy of your salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Christ died to sin once for all, and now victorious, lives to God. Our Savior has delivered you from the power of darkness and welcomed you into the realm of light. For His sake God grants you pardon and peace, the remission of all your sins. Amen.

COMMUNION “Loaves Were Broken, Words Were Spoken”

Loaves were broken, words were spoken by the Galilean shore.
Jesus, bread of life from heaven, was their food forever more.

Chorus: By Your body broken for us, by Your wine of life outpoured,
Jesus, feed again Your people, be our Host, our Life, or Lord.

Loaves were broken, words were spoken in a quiet room one night.
In the bread and wine You gave them, Christ, You came as Light from Light. (chorus)

Loaves are broken, words are spoken, as in faith we gather here.
Jesus speaks across the ages: “I am with you; do not fear!” (chorus)

By the loaves You break and give us, send us in Your name to share
Bread for which the millions hunger, words that tell Your love and care. (chorus)
