Gibraltar Historical Association was invited by a Zion United Methodist Church member, Fish Creek, WI, to learn more about its church and cemetery. This card was part of their collection of items written in German with an old "fraktur" type script, which was challenging to translate. However, some great volunteers studied it and gave us the translation.

At last you have overcome Many difficult hours,
Many a day and many a night, You passed in pain and suffering.
Steadfastly you withstood them, Your suffering and travail,
Till death burst before your eyes, and you awoke in heaven.

Weeping we lay you down, In your quiet resting place.
Never again will you come back to us, Therefore we mourn your passing. Still we hear the hour striking, When we will see you once more. When in that most beautiful hour, We will stand united at God’s Throne.

The George Reinhard family gave the land this Zion United Methodist Church, Fish Creek, WI was built in 1906.
