Vacation Bible School Day Camp at Peace!
June 22-26 we are going to have a great adventure led by staff from Cross Trails Ministry. All staff and volunteers are background checked, and our program is full-day and totally cost flexible. We would love to have you join us.

Update due to winter weather: The University of Texas at Austin is closed tomorrow (Feb 27) due to weather, so there will be no Tuesday meal served by LuMin. The people of Peace Lutheran will support the LuMin meal the next week, on Feb 3 instead.

NO IN PERSON WORSHIP TODAY! A service of scripture and prayer will be live online at 10 am at peaceaustin.org and rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2, with zoom fellowship to follow. If the connection is interrupted, we will plan to post a recording as soon as we can reconnect.

Looking forward to being together from a distance, and praying for safety for all in this winter weather - especially the most vulnerable, and the line workers and first responders who are in harm's way for the sake of others.

As the weather forecast continues to indicate a high likelihood of dangerous conditions this weekend, the leadership of Peace has decided that we need to refrain from gathering in person for worship. Instead, there will be a livestream of a brief service of scripture readings, reflection, and prayer via youtube and linked on our peaceaustin.org homepage (as long as the power is on to allow it). Following worship, you are invited to connect for fellowship and prayer on zoom via the link sent by email. (Feel free to email [email protected] if you need the zoom link.)

Please do what you can to stay safe as we continue to hold all those in the path of dangerous weather in prayer.

FRIDAY UPDATE - Winter Weather Plan & Prayers:
The forecast continues to be bleak. Please take care of yourselves, and reach out if you need assistance to be safe this weekend. It is increasingly likely that on-campus worship will be cancelled. This post will be updated with that information soon, as will the Peace website, and an email will be sent confirming our safety plan.

As we monitor the weather forecast for this weekend, it seems likely that we will need to cancel in person events at church on Sunday to help everyone stay safe. A final determination will be made no later than Saturday at 7 pm, and you will be able to find that information on our page, via a special brief email notice, and on the homepage of Peace's website (peaceaustin.org).

If we cannot gather in person we will plan to livestream a brief service of scripture readings, reflection and prayer via youtube live and linked on our peaceaustin.org homepage (as long as the power is on to allow it). Similarly, we will plan to have a zoom link open for folks to connect for fellowship and prayer after the livestream. The zoom information will be sent by email, so if you do not receive Peace's email updates and would like the Zoom link, please request it at [email protected]

The Rev. Lucille "CeCee" Mills has been elected secretary of the ELCA! Secretary-elect Mills was elected on the fifth ballot with 51.66% of the vote.

Gracious God, you call your people to service and give them varied tasks in the world and in your church. Grant Secretary-elect Mills grace and strength, that she may serve you faithfully to the glory of your name; through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Prayers for the ELCA’s Presiding Bishop-Elect Yehiel Curry.

We are pleased to announce the election of the Rev. Yehiel Curry as presiding bishop of the ELCA! Bishop-elect Curry was elected on the fifth ballot with 70.34% of the vote.

Ever-living God, strengthen and sustain Bishop-elect Curry, that with patience and understanding he may love and care for your people. Grant that together we may follow in the way of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Cindy Gust and Vicar Brady were grateful for the opportunity to make and deliver hygiene kits not only to those in need further west in the Hill Country but also for our neighbors in Georgetown. Many thanks again to those who helped purchase, assemble, and support our neighbors with these materials.
