Meet our St. John Kids Director, Parker Threadgill! Parker and his wife, Lauren, have lived in Austin for 1.5 years. They are also involved in foster and adoption ministry as foster parents! His favorite things to do are go to Baylor sporting events (🐻) and dine at Enchiladas Y Mas! A fun fact about Parker is that he and his grandma went skydiving together for his 18th birthday and his grandma’s 75th birthday! 🪂⁠

Meet Hope Lenaburg, our South Kids Director! She has lived in Austin for 15 years with her husband, five kids, and one dog named Darla! Her favorite food is any kind of potatoes — tater tots, fries, baked, mashed, you name it! A couple fun facts about Hope are that she lived in Mexico until she was 13 and she is a licensed cosmetologist! If you see Hope in South Kids Ministry, she’d love for you to say hi (and for you to give her some tater tots)! 😄⁠

We are excited to introduce y’all to our newest team member, Missy Horner! Missy grew up in Pasadena, California. Wanting to attend a big sports school, she decided to move down to Austin and get a degree in Elementary Education at UT!🤘🏼Before stepping into her role as North Kids Ministry Director, she was a 4th grade teacher. During her free time, she is most likely outside roller blading. Check out slide 2 to see her roller blading along the beach!!

What a fun night this was! It was so special seeing dads love their daughters so deeply. We are praying that moments like these create lasting memories and show daughters how deeply they are loved by God! ⁠

Behind every great 🏁 Mother Son Amazing Race 🏁 are the AMAZING volunteers who helped us put this on! Thank you to all the people who gave up their whole Saturday to serve our families! We couldn't do it without you!

MEET THE TEAM

We’re so happy to welcome Hannah Penley to staff in the role of KIDS Ministry Director at Downtown!

Hannah is a UT Alumni as of May 2021 and a graduate of the UT Math Department and UTeach Program. To help you get to know her, she’s all about being outdoors and often finds herself running or kayaking. Although born in Houston, Hannah is actually a dual citizen of Finland 🇫🇮 and The United States! She and her family have the fun tradition of wearing turkey hats all day every thanksgiving (see slide 3). 🦃

Hannah is a veteran volunteer with four years of experience in Downtown’s KIDS ministry and we are so grateful that she's stepping in to care for our families!

Day Five of VBS: Helmet of Salvation. We learned about Jesus calling Peter to walk on water. It is important to keep our mind on Jesus and his saving power!
