"This year, it will fall on Nov. 1-7, and for our diocese, the observance carries an extra note of gratitude — it falls during the fifth year since our diocese began Vocations Ministry.

"Two of our seminarians are the direct fruit of this initiative (not to mention the thousands of men and women who received letters from our bishop that planted seeds in their hearts to seek God’s loving plan for their lives), and since Vocation Ministry started, the number of our seminarians has grown to as many as 60!"

This past weekend, parishes across our diocese participated in Commitment Weekend for the Catholic Services Appeal. From forming future priests to serving families in need, your generosity makes these ministries possible.

⛪️ Clergy Formation & Support
Seminarians are accompanied in formation, priests are supported in ministry, retired and senior clergy are cared for with dignity, and permanent deacons are prepared for lives of service.

❤️ Life, Charity & Justice
Families in need receive food, housing support, essential services, healing, advocacy for human dignity, and a path toward stability.

🎓 Catholic Education
From religious education to Catholic schools, the CSA helps families, teachers, and parish catechists pass on the faith with warmth, clarity, and conviction.

🙏 Spirituality & Worship
Retreat ministry, liturgical formation, and music ministry training help parishes become more reverent, welcoming, and alive.

🤲 Pastoral Ministries
Through pastoral ministries, youth, young adults, campus communities, families, and ethnic communities are invited into a welcoming environment that nurtures faith and discipleship. When the Church accompanies people with care and intention, it fosters a deep sense of belonging.

🏫 Parish & School Support
Grants support needed capital projects in low- and middle-income parishes and schools so local communities can carry out their mission. The impact of the CSA is visible in meaningful ways through improved parish facilities, strengthened schools, and communities better equipped to accompany the People of God.

"Bishop Daniel Garcia celebrated the annual Rural Life Mass on July 22 at the Church of the Visitation in Westphalia."

"Father Ranjan Cletus, pastor of Visitation Parish and St. Joseph Parish in Cyclone, was presented with this year’s Rural Life Clergy Award. Kenneth and Geraldine Kahlig, parishioners of Visitation Parish in Westphalia, were presented with this year’s Rural Life Couple Award.

"These awards are given to those who exemplify Catholic values, stewardship of creation and dedicated service within rural agricultural communities. Each year the Austin Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (ADCCW) sponsors the Mass to give thanks for the harvest and to honor those who work in agriculture."

This week, Fr. Jesse Martinez and Fr. Chris Downey made Professions of Faith and Oaths of Fidelity in the presence of Bishop Daniel E. Garcia and Vicar General Fr. Tom Reitmeyer as they prepare to take on new responsibilities in service to the Diocese of Austin.

Effective Oct. 26, Fr. Jesse will serve as Vicar for Clergy while continuing as pastor of Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda. Fr. Chris will continue as Vicar for Clergy (formerly Vicar for Priests) and become pastor of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Austin.

Please keep them in your prayers as they begin these new assignments.
